How many of you have gone through the whole experience of changing your childrens beds from toddler beds to big kids beds? It is such a nightmare isn’t it? I didn’t realize how much importance was actually placed on the bed until I was involved in helping my sister in-law. Remember my older children are my step children so they were already in big beds when hubby and I married so I didn’t have to go through the search.
Reese was ready to get out of his little bed and a deal was made that if he got a big boy bed then he would have to sleep in it every night or lose it. So the search began, you would think that a simple twin bed would do the trick. The problem is that when you get a twin bed for a small child you run the risk of having to buy a larger one a few years done the line because they have gotten so big. So I suggested a queen size bed and I wish you could have all seen the look on that child’s face. It was like “What do mean a QUEEN bed? I am a boy!”
Well a king size bed is just too big! You wouldn’t be able to see him in the middle of it. So it was decided that he would need a bunk bed. That way there would be a bed for him to sleep in and then a bed if he had overnight guests, etc. At least that is what would make sense to me but he had other plans. His bed was actually custom mad for him and his dad stained it so it was the perfect color. Reese felt that he didn’t really need two beds in his room so he sleep son the top bunk and then has all the space underneath for his toys and other adventures.
I know, I know this makes no sense to me either but hey what can I do about it? I remember having to share a bunk bed with my sister. What a nightmare that was so I honestly can’t blame Reese for not wanting anyone else underneath him while he sleeps. There were plenty of nights I felt like choking my sister because she was always pushing on mattress. She thought it was funny and I just wanted to sleep!
