Have you thought about the “walk” score of your home? I will admit that I haven’t really given it a single thought. To be honest I didn’t even know what a walk score was until I read an article about it. It is not what you think it could be I will tell you that. If you are like me you are thinking that it is maybe the score you would place on your home when you walk through it. WRONG!
It is actually the score your home gets when walking around the neighborhood and other places nearby. My house scores pretty much like the one in the picture. There isn’t really anything, in fact my entire town would probably wouldn’t score very high. If I walk around my neighborhood there are a few homes, not many though. The best thing we have going is the state park but walking to town takes about an hour or longer. I can do it in 45 minutes if I really need to.
Of course that 45 minutes is just to the edge of town but there is a gas station and a couple of restaurants. Downtown is another 15 minute walk or longer because you are give out my the time you get to the edge. I have to walk up the mountain which by the way, starts like as soon as you hit the main road out of my neighborhood and is the only mountain in town. It’s pretty rough and a little dangerous if you aren’t careful.
I can honestly say that this is something that I have considered when looking at new homes. We are moving just as soon as I can settle on where plus save the money. I want to comfortably have three months worth of bills saved to cover things if I need to because I know it will take me a few weeks to get settled and back to working regularly. I know that I want to be able to walk to the store (it doesn’t have to be a major one) and I would love to be able to walk to a park or some place like that if I wanted to. I prefer walking when I can because it makes me feel so much better.
