It’s Wishful Wednesday again and this week my wish is that there was a Little Free Library in my area. Now I know that I could start one and that is something I may consider. I think it would be great for kids and adults too to be honest.
Have you heard of little free libraries? I actually read about them in the monthly magazine that my electric company send. The article was really great and I got a lot of information. You just visit littlefreelibrary.org so that you can find out more about it. If it is something that you want to do then you find a location that would work well. That is where I would have a problem. You want a location that is safe but has a lot of foot traffic and such. I live out in the country so that wouldn’t work.
Although it would if there were more kids in the area or adults that read and wanted one. Once you have the location (and permission to place the box there if you don’t own the property) then you have to find someone (or yourself) who will maintain the library. This would be great at a large church or playground where you could have a rotation of people to maintain it. You order a structure from Little Free Library or build your own. Register your library and then gather the books. Tell everyone about it and keep it stocked. If I was going to do it I would want one for adult books and one for kids books I think.
