Many of you may not have ever heard of Camay Soap but it is common in Hispanic households. I was introduced to it a year or so ago by my sister in-law. Unlike most soaps, Camay Soaps have a more exceptional smell to them as well as the fact that they are hardworking and keep you from smelling all day.
This week’s edition of My Mexican Kitchen is a bit different, it could easily be called My Mexican Bathroom. I want to share with you Grisi Soaps. Grisi is known for their quality Mexican healthcare products and my mother in-laws favorite. Grisi soaps not only make you smell good they also help prevent your skin from breaking out among other things. I have three favorite Grisi soaps that I want to share with you.
You will remember that I reviewed tortilla warmers not too long ago. Well you must have something to into your warmers. Before I got a press I used two plates but somehow was never considered to be doing it right by my in-laws standards. Pressing your tortillas into the correct form is very important for the proper tortilla and the best way to do it is to have a tortilla press.
No Mexican kitchen is complete without corn husks! They are a staple as they are used to make tamales. Although I must admit that mine are not as good as my mother in-laws but hey you can’t win them all right? I do have a confession to make, I don’t really like tamales but everyone in my family does. The Latin Products has you covered as far as corn husks go. You can get them in 1 lb, 10 lbs, or 24 lbs. If you are new to tamales I would suggest the 1 lb. to begin with.
Okay…this is something that every Mexican kitchen must have! I learned very early in my marriage that I could get away with a lot but not having a tortilla warmer was an absolute deadly sin. You will find all sorts of uses for them too. I keep bead warm in mine sometimes and even made a pie in it once. I didn’t have a dish high enough on the sides for a chocolate cream pie, pulled out my tortilla warmer, put the pie together and to this day everyone swears that was the best chocolate cream pie they have ever had and ask for my recipe.
Remember when I told you I had a new partnership with The Latin Products? Well my new series is My Mexican Kitchen. Every Friday I will bring you a new review of items that we use in our kitchen. All of these items can be found at The Latin Products and if you have suggestions or are looking for something let me know and I will pas it on to them.
I have discovered another great place to purchase Latin products from! It is The Latin Products and they are right here in Georgia!! How cool is that? While I didn’t visit them I did order two items and game them a try. I must tell you that I was very thrilled to find a company within my own state. I knew that placing an order would mean I would get my item fairly quickly and I did.
