It’s the first day of the new year and I am sort of ready for it. Every year I sit down and attempt to decide what I want from the coming year. Sometimes I see those things through. Most of the time I admit that the goals and plans rarely make it beyond being thoughts on a piece of paper. This year. I decided I would keep track with them through the year. So that in December we can go back over them together and see what happened and what didn’t.
Personal Goals
- Read the Entire Bible: This is something that i haven’t done in a while and plan to read through the bible in a year. I found a reading plan that I enjoy and have already begun it. I actually started in December so I already have a couple of weeks under my belt.
- Dinner & Grace: There are plenty of nights when we are so busy anymore that dinner happens when and wherever it happens. That is something we are changing this year. Every single night we are going to sit down and have dinner together. I don’t care if it is at our table at home or at a restaurant. We are all sitting down together. In addition each of those meals will begin with saying grace. I feel like we skip that sometimes without realizing that.
- Spend More Time with God: This is something that I try to do everyday but again we get so busy. This year I am setting aside the time to get it done. I have every attention to take a good twenty minutes every day to just talk with God about whatever is in my heart.
- Bake More: I have gotten away from baking int he last few years. Again, my excuse is being busy. The truth is I think I over schedule stuff in the last couple of years. This year I’m going to be sure to schedule in baking time. I will share those bakes with y’all as well.
- Take up Running: Okay this is a difficult one. I am starting this program called None to Run. It is designed to help me go from doing nothing to running without hurting myself. So I am starting this program because I want to be able to run this mile track when I visit my brother without them having to slow down for me or sit and wait while I finish. I walked it last time and feel horrible because they had to slow down and then finally they waited while I finished. Not this year!
- Better Eating Habits: This is a no brainer. This is the year we make better eating choices. We have to do this and I’m tired of saying we are and then not following through.
- Give Sodas Up for Lent: I have an issue with sodas. I have tried several times to give them up and not really done well with it. This year I plan to give them up for Lent. My hope is that since I am giving up something I enjoy for this religious time I will find the strength to follow through and maybe cut my habit out.
- Be Happy: This is a big one. I want to be able to look back on this year and say I was happy for the largest portion of it.
Blogging Goals
I have a lot of general blogging goals for the year. I don’t know how or if I am going to be able to accomplish them all but I am certainly going to give it a go.
- Better Time Management: This is a big one. I feel like I don’t do this well enough. Some days I am on top of this. In fact I feel like I breeze through it while other days I feel like I’m drowning and there isn’t enough time in the day.
- Better Photography: This is a goal I am been working on for a while. It is a work in progress. It’s something that you have to practice at to get better and while I think I have gotten better than I was a couple of years ago, I know I still need work.
- Affiliate Marketing: I dabble in this. This year I want to get into more and have a better system in place with it. It is just a small part of my next bigger goal.
- Earn More Money: I would like to earn another $150-300 a month. I have a couple of ways I plan on doing this and I need to get them implemented.
Rita Reviews
There is plenty of things that I need to do here at Rita Reviews this year. I have posts and other things that need to be updated and gone through. I figure it will take me a good six months or so to get through all of it. I will take as long as it takes. I am never going to rush through things again. So many times I have seen something or whatever and made myself and my blog adapt to that. This year I am doing it my way and my way alone. This is the year I take back my identity, so to speak.
- All Posts Updated: I plan to go through every single post, check the links, check the images, be sure the featured image is the correct size, etc and update it. This is the biggest part of my plan for Rita Reviews this year. It will take me months to get it done but I feel I need to do it.
- Categories Updated: I plan to add in a few and organize some of the posts better this way.
- Book Reviews Moved: I am moving all of my book reviews over to Wickedly Romance so I have them all in one place.
- Calendars Set Up: My editorial calendar can look a mess at times. I currently already have most of the first quarter planned. I will be working on planning the rest of the year as well.
- New Colors/Look: This is part of taking back my identity. It is something I will discuss later but you will notice most of this has already begun to happen.
- Pages Updated: I haven’t updated some of pages in a while but I will be getting this done this year as well.
- Canned Responses Updated: I have some canned or saved responses in my email server. These help when I have to answer the same questions over and over. I need to update them and make sure I am using them when I need to.
- Newsletter Updated: Again this is something I haven’t changed much other than the colors. I’m giving it a full makeover.
