24 Days of Christmas: Hickory Farms

Growing up there is one ting I could count each and every Christmas and that was something from Hickory Farms. My dad loved getting one of their gift baskets or boxes year. It was a tradition that lived on until the year he died. Each year we would go to the local mall where they had the kiosk set up and he would pick out the biggest basket or box he could find. he always said it was a gift for momma but it really wasn’t, it was for him. He loved the summer sausage the best. When we couldn’t find a kiosk at a mall nearby, we would drive for hours until we found one that had them. After he passed away we all just simply stopped buying them. This year however, thanks to Hickory Farms my children will get to experience something that is very special to me.

We received the Hickory Farms Party Planner Gift Box to review and I will tell you that as much as my children love getting items in the mail since we are here with the rest of my family it was like a full-scale attack on the box.  as you can tell from the above picture it was jostled some in the middle of all of them trying to open it. They seemed a bit disappointed at first but my siblings weren’t. In fact their eyes lit up as soon as the box was opened.  Everyone began telling stories of the first time they tried summer sausage and which cheese was their favorite. It was great! This box includes:

-Smoked Gouda 6 oz.
-Farmhouse Cheddar 4 oz.

-Sweet Hot Mustard 2.25  oz.
-Cranberry Mustard 2.5 oz.

My favorite is the Orginal Summer Sausage! I cannot tell you why it has always been my favorite and will remain so.  Hickory Farms gave my family something we haven’t had in a very long time and that was the gift of remembering. My dad passed away 11 years ago and Christmas was his favorite time of year. Growing up we had such a togetherness and I don’t know how to explain it but to say that my dad always made sure the we felt the magic of Christmas. We have lost that in the last eleven years and now we have it back.
