Back in 2013 I shared with y’all the three foods that I hate the most. These three foods still hold true for me to today. I wanted to share them again with you along with all of my thoughts on them. Everyone has foods they don’t like and for me these three top the list.
I hate lots of foods but these are the 3 foods I hate the most. There is just something about them that I just can’t find to love about them. I have tried them all several different ways and while there are certain ways I like them when it is them on their own I can’t stand them. My uncle tells me all the time there is no way I am a true Southern Girl because I don’t like these.
Tomatoes
OMG! I cannot stand tomatoes. I live spaghetti sauce, pizza, and other things made with tomatoes but I can’t eat them by themselves. I do t know if it is the consistency of them or what. I don’t even like fried green tomatoes. I make some killer ones but I can’t eat them all.
Greens
I am talking collard greens, turnip greens, etc. In fact spinach is something I only recently began to enjoy. I know why I don’t like greens though. When I was young, about 7 or 8 my Granny had a rule. You couldn’t leave the table without eating everything in your plate. She put greens on my plate and I refused to eat them. I sat at that table for 2 days but didn’t touch a single bite.
Onions
Another food I just am not very crazy about. I cook with them but I do t eat them. I eat the ones that are the Krystal burgers but I am not sure why I eat those. I think they are simply too small. I also can tolerate the dehydrated ones but when they plain, ewww! I make a fabulous onion dip and use them in salsa a lot.
So those are the 3 foods I hate. Do you hate any particular foods? Let us know in the comments below.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

i hate dill pickles. Even after I have removed the pickle from a burger, I can’t stand the little bit of “juice” that might be left. I also hate sauerkraut and pickled beets. Ewww. I love cucumbers, beets, and cabbage. There is just something about the pickling that I can’t even stand the smell of. Except–I love sweet relish and gherkins.

As far as singular food items the only food I hate is black beans, I do however like them if they are in something, strange I know. But I love corn and love mashed potatoes but can not stand to see them in the same room! When I was a kid my dad used to mix them and force us kids to eat it mixed and now I will not even make mashed potatoes or corn within 3 days of each other.

I have never been crazy about onions since a child. THe other 2 are ok. One food I really hate is eggplant

I dont like greens either! But unlike you i love tomatoes and onions! Im currently growing tomatoes in my backyard for the first time. Another food I cant stand are mushrooms, and ALL seafood which people think is crazy since i was born on an island lol
Karen Glatt says
I do not enjoy eating tomatoes by themselves. I also do not like dill pickles! I do not like anything tart. I agree with you about not liking collard greens, and what about Kale. I am not going to eat Kale. Just lately, I have gotten an aversion to onions.
Amy Orvin says
I am not really fond of those either. I especially hate collard greens, turnip greens, etc. like you suggested. I know those things are good for you, but just can’t stand the site of them.
Sarah L says
Not fond of any of these by themselves, but have to have onions to cook with.
Tammy S says
I hate tomatoes also. I won’t eat them raw but I love them in sauces. I don’t like onions uncooked. Cooked are fine. I hate beets! My mom tried to make me eat them and I gagged so bad I almost threw up at the dinner table.
Elle Briarson says
I can totally relate to tomatoes! I know they’re good for me, & once in a blue moon I might include a slice on my burger, or a few super thin slices in a salad. But otherwise, I just don’t like them.
Eileen Richter says
I am SO with you on the onions. Only thing I actually LIKE them in is Wendy’s chili.
Otherwise. Sauerkraut. See, I cant even spell it right. My 2nd grade teacher made me eat this one day at lunch and I gagged and spilled ALL over her. She never made me do it again!
Hmm…lots more. Anchovies and pickled herring. Ick. Used to hate sweet potatoes but love them broiled now. Never tried collard greens but I don’t think I’d like them. My mom always made very simple farm meals with “regular” veggies, potatoes, and meat. So am not so curious or adventurous about most foods.

Oh gosh, I love all three, but in very specific ways. I don’t mind eating tomatoes raw, but they taste very plain. I love them if they’re mixed in with other things, and if they’re cooked into sauces and salsas. I’m not a fan of kale, but that’s because of the bitter taste, but most greens are a-okay by me. Onions I like if caramelized, raw if mixed with other things, and pickled. But I’m not a big fan of cabbage, lima beans and squash.
Nataly Carbonell says
I hate Broccoli, cauliflower, and mushrooms! I really can’t stand these, I guess it’s because I’m allergic to mushrooms and broccoli and cauliflower gives me constipation, LOL
Jean says
My husband is the same way about tomatoes and onions – he can’t stand them (especially onions). I can’t eat a raw onion (cooked are OK) and I can’t, won’t eat liver. Yuck.
Diana C says
I agree with you about onions. I like them in food, but rarely can I eat them raw. A food that I hate is liver and Lima beans. Over the years I have gotten used to some foods, but those two have always been on my yuck list.

I can stand tomatoes on a sandwich or hamburger. I will eat tomatoes that have been chopped and made into salsa and smooth blended salsa. I will not eat chunky tomato sauce. So basically I’m in the same boat as you with tomatoes.

I can’t think of any food that I hate but dragon fruit disappointed me because of how bland it is despite the awesome name.
