I know there are many of you who are getting ready to move in the new year. I admit there are more than a few times that I wish I was moving as well. I think a big part of me is more than ready for a change. One of the biggest challenges while moving is find the right moving company. Movers are the people who get all of your stuff form point A to point B.
If you are moving within your current town or maybe even your current state you may decide to go the cheap route and have friends or family help you make the move. That is what we did a few times in my life. I can tell though it rarely turns out well. Family and friends don’t take care of your stuff as well as you or Fox Removals packing service will. I have had holes knocked in walls, dishes broken, a box once flew off the back of a truck and down a mountain side, and jewelry has been lost. I’m a huge fan of the professionals and here are three tips to help you find the right ones for you.
Begin your search by finding the companies that you want to talk with. It is as simple as looking in your yellow pages or doing a quick internet search. If you are currently living in Las Vegas for example you could always search Las Vegas movers or even Las Vegas moving companies. It would give you a good place to start. Once you have you list use the threes tips to find the perfect company.
Walk-Through
Every single company that you want to get a quote for should do a walk through. This will allow your movers London Ontario to see what you have and give you a better estimate. Anyone who doesn’t notice you have a grandfather clock that will take six men to move isn’t the right company for you. The clock came to mind because my grandparents actually have one that large. It took six men to bring it into the house and to this day even though my grandparents are gone and my aunt lives in the house that clock is in the same place. It arrived from Germany more than thirty years ago now. It is something that a good moving company would notice and take the time comment on.
Deposit
Reputable long distance moving companies won’t ask for a large deposit before they move you. They also don’t demand cash. After all if you pay them there is no guarantee you will ever see your belonging again. Pay with a credit card if possible as well. This will help protect you from fraudulent activity. It isn’t always a guarantee and the truth is even the most reputable company could do something less than reputable. It happens all the time. Talk with them about the money and be sure you know what you are paying for and what is in your contract.
References and Insurance
Get references from the companies that you are considering. Knowing what their actual customers thought about them will help you make the best decision for yourself. Also find out what sort of insurance your movers will provide. If there is just liability then you may only get 60 cents per pound if something happens. Full replacement value is the way to go in my opinion.
