Day 10 — Your favorite idol. This is by far the hardest. The reason is I don’t really have a favorite idol. I know that sounds like a lame answer but it is the truth. If the question pertains to a favorite person then I just don’t think of any one person who is above any others. If it pertains to that crazy television show, I don’t watch and have never seen a single episode. It just simply is not my cup of tea, so to speak.
Honestly, looking at the prompt “Your favorite idol” you could actually read it in a variety of ways. If I had to choose one person that inspires me I would say Eleanor Roosevelt. The reason is she said ” No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” and she was right. People can only hurt us and make feel less than because we allow them to.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.
Jean Fisher says
You just endeared yourself to me no end with the comment about never having seen an episode of American Idol. I’ve never seen a minute of it (thank goodness). Like you, I don’t really idolize anyone. But a woman who inspires me is Katharine Graham, the late former publisher of the Washington Post. She assumed that role after her husband (the previous publisher) committed suicide and a lot of people didn’t think she was qualified. Graham really rose to the challenge and ended up leading the Post through its coverage of both Watergate and the Pentagon Papers – huge, huge milestones in journalism.
Rita says
She sounds like an inspiring woman.

I don’t really have idols, or idolize anyone really, I’m guess I’m not that sure of the definition of idol. In my mind, it’s someone who I would mimic, and that’s no one to me.
Betty Baez says
This is a tough question because I don’t idolize anyone and I really didnt have positive influences growing up but I can say that I’ve been inspired by music, and books.
Eileen says
I am also one who does not idolize. I guess I can bring my religious upbringing into that in being Catholic and we learned that you were not to have idols or “other gods before Me”.
That said, honestly, those who I respect and look up to would be my 4th grade teacher who made my life easier in a tough time of my life, and most of all my mom who I shake my head in disbelief grew to be such an honest, hardworking, selfless (having 9 kids) and lovely person when she has gone through SO much. She amazes and inspires me. She is sure to be heaven’s grace someday, because she sure is HERE on Earth!
Jimmy Arcade says
I’m definitely in line with your way of thinking, in regards to not really having an idol. However, if I had to choose one person who lives or lived, that inspires me, it would have to be Jesus. The dude was and is incredible!
Tammy S says
I can’t say I have a idol. I don’t really care about most of the people on TV. I would say a person I truly respect is my mother. She raised 5 kids while my dad was fighting cancer. How she did it I will never know.
Karen Glatt says
I do not think that we should idolize anyone! We can get inspiration from others, especially our loved ones can inspire use and move us in great ways!
Juan Sanchez says
I look up to my father and mother. They make me a greater person!
Diana Camden says
I don’t really have an idol, but instead I admire aspects of a lot of people I know. And then I strive to follow their example.
