30 Days of Me: Day 16

Jan 16, 2013 | Rita

30 Days of Me

Day 16 — A song that makes you cry. This is another hard one because there are so many songs that make me cry. I guess the one that makes me cry the most though is O Holy Night because it was my dad’s favorite Christmas song. He really loved it and would listen to it anytime of the year.

His favorite version was by John Berry but to be honest he really didn’t care who sang it. Now whenever I hear it on the radio I find myself crying but also feeling good because it reminds me of him. I feel like a little bit of him is with me at that moment.

Thats sweet! My song is Big Boy Ft. Tito Rojas – He Chocado Con La Vida….my step grandfather used to take me and his granddaughter on spontaneous fishing and beach trips (this while we were neighbors before my mom even met her son and married him) he used to play this song all the time on our car rides and I loved it because the meaning really stuck with me he passed 11 years ago it broke my heart because he was a father figure to me.

I am hard as a rock, I guess, because it’s hard for me to think of one. The only one that always gets me is a folk/children’s song recorded by Elizabeth Mitchell called, “If You Listen.” It’s a mother singing to her child about how much she loves her and that she’ll always be there, etc.

Your choice is such a peaceful and wonderful Christmas song!

I also thought of my dad immediately when I thought of that song. He passed away about 7 years ago and one of his favorite songs was My Way, by Frank Sinatra. My dad was an amazing singer, used to sing for everyone’s weddings. He’d go to the stereo after church every Sunday and put on his favorites and sing along. We’d stand on top of his good church shoes and dance with him like that. That song brings back all those memories. Dad really did live his life MY WAY, so it really reminds me of him. I only have it on a CD my brother made for his funeral, and I don’t play it much cuz it makes me cry every single time.

OH Holy night is such a beautiful song. It makes me get goose bumps too.

I thought of my dad right away also with this question. One of his favorite songs was MY WAY, sung by Frank Sinatra.

He was an amazing singer and sang for peoples’ weddings alot. We’d come home from church on Sundays and he’d go to the stereo with the old vinyl albums and put that song and many others on. We’d stand on top of his black church shoes and scuff them while dancing along with him. I only have this song on a CD my brother made to play at dad’s funeral and I hardly listen to it because it always makes me cry every single time. He really did live his life MY WAY. Isn’t it funny how a song can take you right back? I could not live without song.

I honestly can’t think of a song that makes me cry and I’m a fairly sensitive man.

A song that always makes me cry is “I Will Always Love You” for many reasons but now especially that Whitney Houston is no longer with us and it’s such a beautiful song.

This is a tough one. I would have to say “Bridge over trouble water”. My mom used to listen to it all the time. she always said that she wanted that song played at her funeral.

I can cry to a lot of songs but only when I’m in those sensitive and kind of weird days 🙂

My brother passed away when I was 13. At his funeral they played his favorite Pink Floyd albumn. I stayed behind to look after my father, he fell sick the day of the funeral. To this day, I can’t listen to any Pink Floyd.
