30 Days of Me: Day 19

Jan 19, 2013 | Rita

30 Days of Me

Day 19 — A talent of yours. I have an assortment of talents but I guess if I have to list just one then it would be my baking talent. I started baking when I was about 13 and I just fell in love with it. I will try to bake anything and I am the official family cake baker.

You can’t be a big gal and not like food! When I get into the kitchen there is no telling what will come out and sharing my baking is something I am planning and hoping to share with all of you more and more this year. I want to improve my cake decorating skills as well so who knows.

I absolutely love baking. I love both cooking and baking, but would prefer baking over cooking any day.
Please do share some of your baking ideas, I am always on the look for a new recipe!

I’m good at learning foreign languages. When I lived in California, I picked up Spanish from my Mexican friends. I then started learning Mandarin, Chinese when I went to China and have been learning since. Then, when I recently went to France, my wife knew the vocabulary, but I was good at the accent, so she would tell me what to say and I would say it. Similarly, I’m also good at mimicking sounds.

My talent is musical. I play the violin and guitar, and I’m planning on learning more instruments in the future.

I love cooking and baking. It is some much fun to try new recipes. I am not great about following most recipes. I am one of those people that take the basic recipe and change it up. I would love if you shared your recipes. I am always lookig to try new things.

I am with you on the baking. I dont like COOKING so much, but am known for my treats. I also would love some new recipes. I see so many posts online but I still always keep making the same treats my family loves. I am tired of the same things though.

I used to do cake decorating too, but have not done much of that in recent years. My daughter wants to get into it though and wants to try her hand at it. She wants to try fondant, which is something I have not tried yet.

I guess my main “talent” that I am known for is writing. I wanted to go to school for journalism but I felt I could not put my kids though so many years of college when they were young. I like poetry and write poetry memories mostly and about life and love. . It just comes out easily to write about someone you love.

My talent is gardening and quilting. I can throw anything in dirt and it seems to grow!

My talent has to be improvising, I can make something out of nothing, lol! I have no limits either whether it is in the kitchen or at my craft table or in an emergency. My husband always teases me because he says I dont make lemonade out of lemons, I make orange juice hahaha. Recently we went on a trip and one of our hoses busted in the truck, well I was able to repair it up until we got home and took it to a mechanic. The mechanic looked at my husband, husband pointed at me and the mechanic said “you rigged this?” I said ‘yep’ he laughed and told my husband he had found a keeper that most people would not have known what was wrong let alone what to do.
@ Ellen Beck- you need to give me some pointers I kill every plant I put in the ground except for Lilies and Roses!
