Is it time to update your space? Maybe you have a new dining room table or sofa, but you need something extra to help spice up your look. We suggest a bold printed rug to do the job! To help redesign your living room, entryway or dining room, we’ve picked out four of our must-have statement-making rugs that are easily incorporated into modern, transitional and traditional styles.
- Color Confidence
Give your living room a boost by injecting bright, bold color. Choose a patterned area rug that speaks to the rest of your room—stick to a color that will brighten the space, but won’t clash with your preexisting design. We suggest a bohemian-inspired print for modern rooms, a geometric pattern for transitional ones and a great striped piece for the traditional home. Complement your eye-catching rug with metallic decor like mirrors, metal picture frames and antiques scattered throughout the room.
- Prettily Patterned
If there aren’t any patterns in your place, add one with an area rug! Whether you prefer florals over dots or damask over stripes, patterns are easy to incorporate in any room, and they blend perfectly with all types of decor. A dainty design looks elegant in an entryway with a console and an accent chair for the transitional home. If you prefer a sleek and streamlined look, we suggest pairing your furnishings with an abstract accent rug for just enough oomph. Are you in between? A great geometric print is always our go-to! Style geometrics with softer, more fluid accessories for a balanced and beautiful space. Not to mention the are super popular. Check any website and you will most likely find them there.
- Oriental Inspiration
The Oriental rug is a comeback trend that keeps popping up on our design radar. Soft, intricate and beautifully woven, the Oriental rug is a detailed design perfect for any minimally decorated space. This particular type of area rug is versatile: lay it in your entryway, tuck it under a dining table or layer it over bedroom carpeting for added comfort underfoot. Though Oriental rugs are most trendy in contemporary spaces, they can easily be incorporated into a classically decorated home as well. Choose a neutral or pastel color, then slip your Oriental rug under the foot of your bed. Pair it with a tufted chaise or bench, and voila—you’ve chicly styled your room!
- Nautical in No Time
Themed decor is fun in theory, but it can be difficult to pull off successfully. We’ve found that nautical decor is one of the best motifs to work with because of its many shades of blue and fun, timeless patterns make it incredibly versatile and easy to style. Make your place shipshape with a nautical printed rug in the bathroom, living room or even outside on the patio. Pair the area rug with other seaside decor, like buoys, map art and classic nautical stripes for the perfect balance of ship and chic.
Giant geometric shapes and scattered animal prints are making a serious comeback, and the bold rug trend is slowly gaining speed. Have you tried any dramatic area rug styles that have worked in your space?

My husband and I were just talking about getting new carpeting and then adding a bold colored rug in the middle of the living room. I like the first rug as far as colors/design.

The first rug’s colors are beautiful. I’m drawn to hold colors, though. We keep our walls and most of our furniture neutral (whites, beiges, tans) and accent with brights. We just bought a bright royal blue and white rug for our living room. I immediately loved it at the store but worried it would overwhelm our space. It ended up looking great and brightening the whole space. It also makes me happy just to look at it. 🙂

We need area rugs all over my house. We have hard wood and ceramic tile everywhere. On that note, I love the second one. Unfortunately the color does not go with my decor.

I love the second and fourth ones as they would match my furniture. Awesome rugs.
