Whether you are happy with your home or are ready for a refresh, there is always room for improvement, especially when it comes to how you decorate. Over time, you may tire of seeing the same things day in and day out. Keep reading for some easy and inspirational ideas to beautify your living space.
1. Incorporate Plants Into Your Indoor Landscape
There is a certain aesthetic that comes from incorporating nature into your home. It is inspiring and refreshing. It evokes a warm and sunny day and leaves you feeling a sense of happiness. Trees can do all of this for you, but with their size they are prohibitive. Enter the diminutive beauty of Bonsai Trees.
Bonsai Trees come in a wide variety of shapes, colors, and types. There are flowering trees, deciduous ones, evergreens, and the list goes on. Consider a redwood miniature to mimic the ones in your neighborhood. Or, try a beautiful Japanese Maple with its fiery red leaves in the fall. You can opt for Bonsai Trees in types that are not generally in your growing zone for something extra special.
Training these miniature trees is an exercise in continued beauty. As an added benefit, caring for Bonsai trees offers stress relief and an opportunity to relax. Bonsai means tray planting in Japanese and is an ancient art form originally developed in China. You can have a lot of fun with the process and care for one or choose from a few for added variety.
2. Invite Natural Elements Inside
If you are a collector of found items, do not tuck them away. Instead, bring together all of the natural items from hikes, beach vacations, and wanderings into your indoor space.
Gather sticks, twigs, and branches from fallen birch trees or any others you find beautiful. Place them inside vases, pots, or metal cans for a unique and artistic arrangement. Pull out your assortment of old rocks. Leave them as is, or put them in a rock polisher for a more refined finish. Once ready, group them into clear glass vessels so their distinctive appearance will be visible from all sides. You can do this with sea glass and seashells as well.
You will appreciate the markings, natural ridges, and worn surfaces more and more as time passes. Sit back and look upon your displays with fond remembrances of when you came upon them and enjoy how they brighten up your home today.
3. Add Art to Your Home
If your walls look bare and lackluster, some strategically placed art will brighten your space. You can purchase prints and originals online at a wide variety of marketplaces. Try placing minimalist pieces or poster art in big and bold frames. Give originals the show by framing them in slim and matching frames.
You can mix and match your unique art to your heart’s content. The only rule is that it looks beautiful to you. Create a gallery wall of matching family photos, travel postcards, or a hodgepodge of art. Tie them together with matching frames or focus on a similar color within the artwork itself.
If you are interested in recycling or are on a limited budget, visit thrift stores. They have a wealth of art, frames, and posters that you can repurpose or even repaint if you wish. Another option is to create your own art.
Here is a video showing you how to paint a simple, easy, and quick abstract piece that you will be proud to display.
4. Move Things Around
If you enjoy your belongings and find joy in having them around, try switching art and objects between rooms in your home. You may lose interest in seeing the same vase when you walk through the front door. If so, swap it with a potted plant from another room. Keep your nails in the wall and find similarly-sized framed art in other rooms to switch with to create an entirely different feel in each space.
Take this notion a step further and rearrange your furniture. You can move pieces around within one room or shop in the other areas of your home to fashion an entirely new look. Change pillows and throw blankets, baskets and crates, or anything else you have.
Your home is your oasis, your sanctuary, and a place to share with others. You want to feel the energy and enjoy everything that is around you when you are there. Try one or all of these fun and easy ways to decorate your home beautifully.

Thanks for the tips. Not only do we need to bring beauty, but we need to use it, display it. I know of too many people that have never used their good china. Or antique embroidered runners or doilies. They “save” them. Their is no more good day than today. Chances are, passing all that saved stuff to your children doesn’t do them any favours if they don’t want them…or like them. Then they’ll end up at a Sally Ann.
