4 Ways to Get Your Next Concert Tickets for Less

Feb 01, 2018 | Rita

Going to a concert is one of many ways to let your hair down, especially if you love listening to music. Not only can it be fun experiencing your favorite artists perform, but it can be even more exciting when you can do it with friends or other fans. One thing that can sometimes deter people from going to concerts, however, is the high cost of tickets. However, there are a variety of ways how you can get tickets for less so that you aren’t overspending on tickets. These ways include looking out for discounts and knowing the best time to buy tickets as well other methods we’ll mention in this article.

Buy Weekday Tickets

One of the many ways to get affordable concert tickets is to buy a weekday ticket instead of one for the weekend.  Reports found that tickets to see Adele on a Friday are 18% more expensive than if you went to see her on a Monday. If the artist is playing multiple shows at the same venue, the ticket price variations are often more applicable.

Listen to the Radio

Listening to the radio is a great method to use if you have your eyes set on a certain concert ticket. Radio stations often have a set number of ACL tickets that they tend to give out as prizes for upcoming concerts. You could, therefore, listen out for any competitions they may be running. It might seem like winning concert tickets on a radio show may be like finding a needle in a haystack, but it doesn’t hurt to try.

Follow Relevant Social Media Sites

Similar to listening to the radio, by following the social media sites of your local radio stations or your favorite artist, it’s possible for you to win free tickets. If you wanted to get Ed Sheeran tickets, for example, following him across all social media platforms is a good idea. Check concert or artist pages regularly to see whether they have any giveaways or competitions running in which concert tickets are the prize.

Buy Tickets for a Later Date

It’s not a surprise if the first thing that you want to do is buy the first ticket you could find for the first date available. However, doing this could mean that you’ll end up paying 10% more for tickets than if you wait until a later date.

Avoid Scalpers

Scalpers are known as people who buy tickets, usually in bulk, and then resell them for a profit. It’s in your best interest to avoid them if you’re trying to pay less for concert tickets. Most of the time, scalpers resell tickets at a much higher cost. If you’re lucky enough to find a ticket that is for resale for cheaper, try and ensure that it’s legit.

Doing something that brings you satisfaction, pleasure or joy, doesn’t always have to cost so much. The key to saving, however, is knowing a few tricks in the book. By being savvy and looking out for discounts, you can save a significant amount on your next concert tickets.

I love going to rock concerts and am lucky that our local college brings good music to us. I find that waiting till Black Friday is another way to save money on tickets!

Great tips. I realized just recently that buying weekday tickets could be cheaper. We had a local venue here in St Louis do a three night show—Thursday’s tickets were much more affordable than Friday or Saturday, Even though it was basically the same show.

These are great tips. We do usually try to buy tickets for weeknights (or days) anytime that is an option and it is a great money saver.

I haven’t been to a concert in forever, I just think it’s ridiculous to spend $150 or more one one ticket. Maybe I’ll go if I win some tickets, 🙂
