4th of July Holiday + Star Spangled Giveaway Hop

The 4th of July is just a few days away and we have an amazing giveaway hop thanks to MamatheFox for y’all. I don’t know about y’all but I am so ready for the 4th. We normally have a barbeque and celebrate with family and friends. This year will be a little different in that there won’t be as many people there but we will still be celebrating.

This year it is mostly going to be adults since I am not back home yet. That is perfectly alright though. Every once in a while it is good to have a kid free celebration. After the last couple of months I think the break the kids and I have had from one another (they are with their father) has been an important one. We needed more than we normally would. I think we were maybe driving each other a little crazy.

  1. I’m celebrating by fishing then grilling my catch. I’m epileptic and can’t watch fireworks..so, it’s just me and my fishing pole.

  4. There are not any fireworks in the area so we can not do that. I think we might just have a little gathering.

  20. We will be doing a BBQ with just our family and watching the fireworks at night from the back yard.

  22. Since I’m staying close to home this year, I’ll have a nice picnic in the back yard. It should be a quiet day.

  26. I am traveling to my mom’s house on the 4th and we are going for a boat ride!

  27. We’ll watch fireworks from our car! It won’t be as close as normal but we’ll still be able to see them. I can’t imagine not seeing fireworks on the 4th!

  29. I’m having a cookout with the family and we’ll be shooting off some fireworks.

  31. For the 4th we are having a party at our house. But it is with just my 2 boys and 8 grandchildren.

  32. I’m probably celebrating by myself … which means it most likely will be like any other day 🙁

  38. We are just have a cookout at home with the family. Fireworks have been canceled in our area.

  40. Nothing planned. Will probably stay home and watch movies since it’s hot and humid this week.

  44. All the firework events in our area were cancelled this year, so we bought a small pack of our own to shoot in our front yard. Its not much, but we will try to make it fun for our kids. Our local pool is open, so I might take the kids over for a little while to swim. I plan to make some festive desserts and we are going to try to set up an outdoor movie with our inflatable movie screen. We are going to make the best of it.

  50. My daughter and I will be making some 4th of July themed treats and watching movies.

  51. I’m not doing anything for 4th of July unfortunately as we just reversed lockdown restrictions and beaches and fireworks are closed

  54. We are going to a rock quarry our friend works at and camping/fishing overnight to celebrate the 4th this year

  55. Staying home this year. I hope I can see some of the neighbors fireworks from my back yard.

  60. staying home – staying safe. We have too many virus cases in our area so we are on stay at home orders again. I will be having a family only BBQ with home made ice cream!

  64. I am staying inside and maybe doing some home organizing/cleaning. I was already planning to stay in because I don’t want to contribute to the spread of COVID, but I have been feeling sick for a couple of days so I have even more reason to not leave.

  65. I’m going to grill out watch the 10yr d and daddy do fireworks and I have two that have to work. So like every year really nothing.

  76. I just got home from Louisiana yesterday (2-day trip) due to my mother having surgery so today I’m doing NOTHING!

  79. I worked until 3 p.m. Unfortunately I also have to work from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. Unfortunately I have to get up at 4:30 to get to work awake, so I can’t stay up to watch fireworks.

  82. I’m from Canada so we don’t celebrate the 4th of July but we celebrated Canada Day on July 1st. We are on lockdown though so we couldn’t really do much. We just got some takeout for dinner.

  83. I am in New Zealand and we don’t celebrate it here, it looks like fun though. We stayed inside watching movies as it was freezing here.

  85. Between Covid and fire danger, all the fireworks in our area were cancelled this year. Kind-of a bummer. But we actually had a really relaxed and lovely day as a family anyway, and watched the live streamed fireworks from the capitol.

  86. I waited to comment, because I didn’t know what the day would be like. I’ve been grieving since this past Monday night, when I learned that my love, my heart, has died from COVID-19. I’m destroyed. Yesterday (July 4) I sat on our (my?) enclosed porch for hours, completely zoned out while listening to music. Every little thing reminds me of him. Crying out, screaming, wailing hysterically every so often. But I was a bit quieter, later on after the sun set. I remembered our favorite 3-day 4th of July weekend together… it was magical. Finally I lit a very old sparkler for him, told him so many times that I love him, and wished him a happy holiday.

  90. I usually stay home with my chihuahua as I don’t like crowds and we both hate loud noises.

  92. We had to keep our dogs calm. We did a bbq with just us since we cant be around other people right now with the virus out there.

  95. We had no plans for this year – just being together and not feeling overly bad or isolated. It’s a weird time of year but now with it less hot it’s easier to be outside.

  96. We spent the day in our backyard by the pool. Had some burgers & hot dogs! Had a great time even if it was just us! 🙂

  98. We just stayed in and watched the neighborhood fireworks show from our driveway.

  101. My 7 year old was recuperating from an emergency appendectomy after his appendix burst, so it was very mellow around here. We watched some of the neighbors fireworks from our window, but he just wasn’t feeling up to it.

  102. I did lots of swimming, eating, and reading. Pretty relaxing day overall, so I can’t complain. hah

  121. I didn’t really celebrate this year, sadly. I’m staying quarantined since I’m high risk and Covid cases are on the rise in my area…although I am questioning the validity of the results. Most are asymptomatic. Played it safe and stayed home. Thank you for the chance to win!

  127. I’m not a big fan of fourth of july, but I went to a barbecue at my in-laws’ house.

  132. We celebrated at home without fireworks this year as our town cancelled the show.

  135. We stayed at home. unfortunately, our older dog is absolutely terrified of fireworks. it was a super long night as fireworks went off past midnight and were going off on all sides of our house. The rest of the day was full of swimming and a bbq at home.

  141. I celebrated the fourth with my best friend. we did some shopping and grabbed a meal.

  142. I celebrated the 4th by staying home with my hubby and cats. We watched fireworks on youtube from last year and cooked out and soaked in our swimming hole. It was a great day but I did miss having live fireworks. First time ever in my life without seeing them live.

  143. We had a SMALL FAMILY BARBECUE. WE USUALLY HAVE A LARGE FAMILY BARBECUE, BUT WE COULDN’T DUE TO cOVID.

  151. We didn’t get to celebrate this year, because of the pandemic. Although some of the neighbors were setting off fireworks.

  153. I like to watch the fireworks in my city every year as a tradition, but they were cancelled. So just a barbecue.
