Don’t worry I am not moving my office in 2019. Although I am planning on changing so me thing up in my office space. Just a few things to make it fresh and new. I am sure there are plenty of people out there moving into new office spaces in 2019.

It can be scary and there are a lot of things to consider from finding the right Moving Company Ohio to packing everything up. I put together a list of 5 things that will help you when you make the move. The most important thing that you start planning early. The earlier you start the more prepared you will be.

Move Manager

Appoint someone within the company to be the move manager. They will the person who will follow up on all aspects of the move. For example they will make the appointments, make sure boxes are labelled and be there the day of the move. It takes the stress off everyone if they only have to worry about their single job.

Pack Your Space

That brings me to next point of having everyone pack their own desk and space. Everyone likes things differently and it will be easier if you pack your space. You don’t have to worry about other people going through your stuff or files beings lost.

Moving Company

Finding the right moving company is important. When looking for a moving company always start with a search within you town. Change of Address

Update all of your business cards, stationary, website, and clients the moment you know your new address. Some of these things take time and need to be ordered. If at all possible go ahead and have your mail forwarded and assign someone who will go and pick it up. If that is not possible it is okay. Just make sure that you are making everyone aware of your new address as quickly as possible. Packages that have to be forwarded to your new address can incur additional shipping charges. I know cause it happened to me once.

IT!

Your IT department’s move can’t be done by the movers. This is a big job and takes times. I would suggest (if possible) have that department move the day before the rest of the office. This will allow them time to get in there and get there things set up without having people come in or out. If the day before isn’t possible, maybe the day after. It will help things go smoother if they have there own moving day.

Moving can be stressful at the best of times. However, with a little panning and a tight schedule it can be done. If it is possible move to you new office space on a Wednesday or Thursday. This will give you a couple of days to set up and then have the weekend to rest. That way when you come in on Monday you aren’t stressing over all the boxes to get unloaded.
