I came into Facebook games a little later than most but I will tell you that I have become addicted. When I was asked to review a new Facebook game I thought “Great! This is right up my alley!” A Better World is a different sort of Facebook game that I have just completely fallen in love with.
Welcome to A Better World; where doing good doesn’t stay within the confines of your computer world. A Better World rewards players for not only doing kind and thoughtful things for other players within the game, but also for doing good out in the real world. Something no other Facebook game offers. Developed by ToonUps, a digital entertainment company, the ultimate goal is to create a new genre of games with the main purpose of doing good for others and being thankful for the good done for you.
You start by creating your character, appearance and choosing a name. One thing you will notice right away is that this is a family friendly game because name selection is monitored for anything considered not child friendly. Another thing Toonups incorporated is game privacy. I was able to decide who (friends or everyone) could see me, my activity and my Facebook profile link while in the game. This way you will never have to worry about your children who are playing the game.
Your goal, In A Better World, is to get rewards, which is called Good Gold, for doing good and get rewards for supporting others who are doing good. You can then use your Good Gold to purchase special in-game items. There are 15 locations within the world in which you can spread the good. A couple of my favorite areas are:
- Department of Do Good – Here is where you can share real world good deeds you’ve performed and see what other members of the community have done
- Gratitude Grotto – An area that honestly looks like the tomb of Jesus with a beautiful river and waterfall. You can reveal what you are grateful for and then support other messages left by players.
There are also areas where you can interact with other players such as:
- Community Garden – Grow plants to earn rewards. You can also get rewards for helping friends tend their gardens.
- Arcade – this is a fun area where you can play games and such.
You can decorate your character’s home, buy new clothing or visit the salon and go to the Better Pets Pet Shop to adopt puppies, kittens and even magical creatures like unicorns. The town looks very much like a small town. You visit the shops by clicking the door or walking right up to them. you can visit the different sections by clicking the signs or walking down the paths.
My all time favorite area of A Better World is the Sanctuary of Hope. Here you can post your hopes and dreams for family, friends, yourself or even all of mankind. Friends and visitors alike can visit the Sanctuary, read the hopes that were posted before them and then light a candle in support of the hopes. It is a beautiful place and you feel uplifted when you leave.
Don’t forget to sign into Facebook first! While you are there you can also LIKE the A BetterWorld fan page to meet other players and to be included in-game updates, features and special announcements. You can Follow ToonUps onTwitter as well.

*I was given the opportunity to share my thoughts and opinions on A Better World. I received a gift card as a thank you for my participation. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.
