A Burger Press Makes Life Easy

Apr 09, 2018 | Rita

I don’t know about y’all but in my home we buy groceries monthly. That means when I purchase the meats I buy enough to fill the freezer. It also means that I try to make life easier by patting out the burgers we need for the month. When Crave Tools offered me a burger press I thought I would give it a go.

You may remember Crave Tools from my other reviews of them. They are one of the brands I have worked with for a while now and they always send me awesome kitchen tools.

They sent me the Burger Press Patty Maker to try and I will tell you that it was the firs time I ever used a press. I guess I never thought about it before. I always just patted the burgers out by hand. It would take forever and I always felt like I spent an eternity getting the burgers ready to go into the freezer bags. I did have to attach the handle but it took like two seconds and was nothing to do really.

The press came with some square wax paper sheets to go between your burgers as you press them out. That was super handy and there were about 200. Give or take a few. When they are all gone I am simply going to buy a roll of wax paper rather than ordering more. I can trim the roll into squares with my paper cutter pretty easily.

Using this press is simple. I took a handful of the ground chuck and then put it in the press  and then use the top to press down on the patty.

When I move the top I had the prefect size burger. One thing I did worry about was the how small they would shrink to when I cooked them. We all know that burgers tend to shrink! They stay this size for the most part. There is a little of shrinkage but not enough to make these burgers too small.

Once they were all in the bag everything is nice and neat. I can quickly grab a bag to thaw and cook. If I need more than I just grab an extra bag. When you shop monthly for a large family you learn that dividing up the meat is the way to save money and feed your family. Oh, did I mention you can buy the patty maker on Amazon? You can which makes shopping all the more a breeze!

I could use one of these great idea for a BBQ to get them ready ahead of time.

I can see where this would make making patties easier. Especially when you do a lot at once.
