A lot of children around the world are happy-go-lucky and will jump head-first into a lot of new things. Their innocence and youthfulness combine to make most experiences pretty wonderful. They don’t think about what might go wrong – they simply just enjoy whatever they’re about to head into. There are a few kids that will be a little more tentative, however.
Whatever the reason, it’s your job to make sure that this kind of negativity and pessimism vanish. Life is to be experienced and enjoyed, after all. So, without further ado, let’s talk about a few ways you can get your children out of their shells:
Positive Reinforcement
Obviously, you should not do everything for them and make them feel as though they can do no wrong. What you should do, however, is make them feel good whenever they complete a task or get something right. For kids, being acknowledged when they succeed makes them want to try things again. Never be a negative and pessimistic person around your kids as it can contaminate their minds from such a young age.
Don’t Judge Them For What They Like
Everyone has different tastes. If they like a particular style of clothing or a particular activity, then so be it. If they like a particular look and want to browse the likes of the Buffalo Jackson women’s leather jacket guide for more ideas, then let them get on with it. So many parents out there push kids into what THEY want instead of what the child wants. This kind of freedom and expression will breed confidence in them as they grow.
Set An Example
You’re going to be watched a lot by your kids – they think the world of you. Pretty much everything you say is correct according to them. So, you should set a good example for your kids and do what you can to let them mimic all of your positive traits. Don’t let them grow up in a toxic environment. It’s amazing just how influential you can be without even trying.
Let Them Try All Kinds Of Things
Let their creativity flow and allow them to choose how they want to spend their time. Lots of parents live vicariously through their kids and choose their paths for them. This is quite sad to see as it takes away their free will somewhat. If they want to take part in a few crafts or play a little soccer, then let them. Don’t pull them away from certain activities because YOU don’t feel they’re right for them.
Don’t Make Them Feel Useless
Kids that do nothing and feel useless often grow into adults with low self-esteem. It’s not always the case, but the majority feel this way. They feel as though they cannot do certain tasks or that they won’t be good enough. Make them useful and provide that positive reinforcement that we mentioned at the top of the post!
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.
