One of the best things about a new tablecloth is that you can completely change the look of the dining room. You can make it bright or dark, fun or somber. You can change it on a whim and I love doing that. I change the tablecloth often depending on what I have planned for the day.
As much as I like banquet tablecloths is nothing compared to how much Ma likes them. I swear y’all she has a trunk full of them and she is the reason why I decided to agree to this particular tablecloth. I am not a huge vinyl tablecloth fan.
I use them mostly on the table outside or when we go to the park and need to cover one of those tables. Ma however loves them and this Ennas Vintage Checkered Flannel Backed Vinyl Tablecloth was one that I knew she would go crazy for. It is a mix of blue, tan, yellow, and green in the pattern and has a scalloped edge. It is 46 by 59 inches and oblong. It doesn’t fit my table the way many others would. It is slightly too small but it perfect for when you kids at the table. It means no one is pulling the tablecloth off as they move around.
As you can see Ma doesn’t care much about whether something matches or not. She just knows that she wanted all of that on the table and gave me the look when I made a comment. You all know that look, it is the one that every mother has perfected in the “you better do what I say” kind of way. Truthfully this is the perfect tablecloth for our smaller table outside and the one that will most likely see it the most. All in all it is great because you can wipe it clean. Since it has a flannel back it means the cloth won’t move around.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

We have a ton of tablecloths in our house. We decorate our table using them along with napkins, placements, etc.

We recently bought a new table cloth to cover up our ugly table for dinner with my in laws, and I was thinking “why didn’t we get a table cloth sooner?”

Your post brought on a wave of nostalgia! My mother loved those vinyl tablecloths with the flannel backing, and she always kept one on her kitchen table. She also kept some larger ones on hand for the dining room (but did use cloth for Thanksgiving) and for the table at the camp we stayed at in the summer. Nothing made her happier than sprucing up her kitchen with a new tablecloth. I never use them, but now I’m thinking about it. 🙂
