I did a giveaway not too long ago where all of my wonderful readers came through and helped a wonderful local family have a great Christmas. They are doing much better. We are currently taking donations to add to a local food bank. We are trying to add more than just food because sometimes you need more than just food. We are still $1000 short of our goal of $3000. So I thought I would reach out again and offer another tv giveaway.
Update: We are now only $500 away from our goal! Thank you all so much!! If we go over our $3000 goal and get $4000 I will give 2 tvs away.

Food Banks are very important. There are people less fortunate out there that need a hand up not a hand out. This helps out families and especially the children that are our future. Hunger is no fun.

I volunteer at a food giveaway site and I know from seeing the people coming though it probably isn’t the folks you would expect. Please remember the elderly, the children who’s folks can’t afford breakfast/lunch when school is out, or those affected by disasters and those who live from paycheck to paycheck who have a medical bill. If everyone just realizes “There by the grace of God goes I” they would realize why it is important. One in six Americans go hungry… look around- it is someone you know.
phillisha says
Food banks are important because while there are people reaching out to other countries, many forget that there are struggles in america. I hate to say I am one that has had to use our food bank. During my battle with cancer through all of 2011, doctors bills took every penny I could scrape together out of my very limited income. I have sat down many nights to a can of corn or green beans for dinner. I imagine as the summer gets warmer and the electric bill gets higher, I will need to go again. I can not imagine trying to feed a house full of children in the economy we are in. I also can not imagine if the food bank was not there!
Rita says
I am sorry about your battle with cancer. I can remember growing up when my dad was sick we had to use a food bank as well. That is why I work so hard to make sure that I donate as much as I possibly can each month. Last year at the holidays we were able to donate $5000 worth of food and other items (such as cleaning supplies, diapers, etc) to our local food bank thanks to my wonderful readers and sponsors!
JR Pickett (Vicki Vix on r/c form) says
Great giveaway and cause. Thanks. Food banks are extremely important. Unfortunately even in a developed country like America there are many people who would go hungry without help from a food bank. I really think food banks are important. People have ups and downs in life. You can run on a high for a long time, not worrying about where your next meal is coming from. All it takes is one disaster, one big bill, one lost job, to completely change up a families finances. Someone who was doing fine, can need help the next day. And I feel like when you have the funds to help, you should, because you never know when you might need help down the road!
