All the Weird Facts

Have I ever told y’all how many weird facts that I now? It’s true I read the entire set of encyclopedias one summer that we, twice. I am full of useless information, at least that is what my brother tells me. It’s not like I needed the information but at the same time all those weird facts can come in handy. You just never know when you might need to know something off the wall. It could be the one answer that wins you millions or saves your life.

For example when I really don’t want to talk with some I will spout off a strange fact. Normally it freaks people out because they aren’t sure what to do with it and then they walk off thinking I’m a weirdo. I am but I have a hard time with people sometimes. I am painfully shy at times and it affects how I reaction to both people and situations.  I know that a duel between three people is called a truel. I know plenty of gross facts too. Those are my favorite to use on people that annoy me. For example roughly 400 years ago rotted mice were fed to children to stop them from wetting the bed. Yuck! My nephew loves my facts about gold. I’m not sure why but he does. He loves that I know that gold is the only metal that yellow or “golden.” Other metals may have can look yellowish after they have oxidized. Did you know that gold was discovered in Georgia before it was found in California? It was discovered in Dahlonega by a man named Benjamin Parks stumbled upon it. 

Researchers in Australia think that gold could be made almost instantaneously in the Earth’s crust during earthquakes. I learned that when I wanted to give my nieces and nephews some interesting for Christmas back before I was married. You know way back when I money like that to throw around.  

Knowing all of these weird facts doesn’t enhance my life much in any way but it is great for trivia games. Sometimes questions are asked I am the only one who knows the answer because I spent too many years reading and studying. Not that it is a bad thing. No, I love to read and learn new things. It is a love that I have passed onto my youngest son as well. He will randomly tell people facts. It is part of his Aspbergers. I worry that it will get him into trouble later in life but for now he is much too young for that. He’s still at the stage where it is cute.
