I was reading in a book earlier this week and the author was talking about all of her “alligators.” You know all the things that attempt to pull you off path and get into your way. The week has been full of alligators for me. We put my uncle in a nursing home this week and I think it was a good decision. He seemed happy when we went to visit him so that is one good thing. The rest of the week though was anything but.
Everyday I seemed so tired and just lack the energy to do anything and then Aunt Flo made her appearance and I think she brought about fifteen extra pieces of luggage this month. I think I have just been overwhelmed emotionally lately and it has worn me down a bit. No worries though every day I tell myself the alligators won’t get me today.
In fact they almost got me this morning if I am honest. I woke up in the worst mood ever and almost didn’t post the prayer requests today. I just felt like what was the point? As I sit and write this I am still torn but Lord willing as the day wears on things will look up.
Facing Your Alligators
So if you are facing alligators this coming week be sure to face them hard on knowing that God will be right there by your side, shielding you from the bite. Let us know if you need a prayer or maybe you just need a lite encouragement this week.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

I’m sorry that you’re having a rough week. You’ll definitely be in my prayers. I can only imagine how difficult it must have been to place your uncle in a nursing home but I’m glad to know that he seems content where he is. I’m sure that’s a load off of your mind as well to know that he’ll be cared for and is happy. My mother works in a nursing home and she has become very attached to each of her patients. I hope that your uncle will be blessed to have others around him who care for him in the same way. We all experience “alligators” in our day to day but you’re right about keeping your faith and letting the Lord lead you. Wishing the best for you and yours today and everyday.
Best,
Kate

Thank you Kate.

I so understand how you feel. Some days I am so overwhelmed and carry the weight of the world on my shoulders. I have to remind myself to give it to God. He can lighten my burdens.

I have never heard of it called “Alligators” but I like it. I am glad things are going well with your uncle. I am glad you did take the time to post this today. I hope your day and week get better.
I would like to ask for some extra prayers this week for my uncle. He has been in the hospital this week and could use some extra prayers.

Alligators! What a very descriptive way of looking at problems we can’t allow to drag us down.

That’s a very whimsical term…and so true. The alligators seem to get me most at night, when I’m trying to fall asleep & they all start rushing into my head. Praying you find strength, peace, and happiness this coming week, Rita.

P.S. Thank you for posting the Prayer Request this week. Even though you were down, you thought of your loyal readers (like me) who appreciate your thought-provoking posts everyday. I just wanted to thank you for that.

I bet most of us have alligators, we just have to remember that God is bigger than all those alligators. Rita I pray that God will give you strength to get through this week and not feel so weighed down. Please continue to pray that my husband would be a more patient person.

I haven’t heard these things called alligators’ but I can sure see what it is! I also know about having my own bad, pessimistic thoughts–my dad used to call that “chasing rabbits down a rabbit hole.”

Now I have something new to call it–alligators! Just reading the post made me feel a little better about my alligators. Sometimes we get bitten, but sometimes we are truly blessed to come out unscathed.
Rita says
I could not have said it better myself.

That’s an interesting thought–alligators. Well, it is certainly fitting.
Rita says
I thought it was.

perfect post! I really needed to read this tonight bc it is the perfect reminder to stay focused on God and not let other things bring you down. and calling those things alligators is a great way to put it.
