Amwell Brings The Doctor to You #getwellwithamwell #spon

Nov 20, 2019 | Rita

We all know how frustrating it is to get into the see the doctor. If you are like me and live out in the country it can be even harder. I have to get an appointment, if I can, and then get everyone in the car and make the trip to the doctor’s office. It is an event all unto itself and one that is destined to drive me up a wall. When you add in the travelling we do every year and you would not believe the headaches. That is why I love Amwell.

Never heard of them? No worries! AmWell is the nation’s largest telehealth company, connecting users with board-certified, licensed doctors for immediate and live, online visits—day or night, on either mobile or desktop. The Amwell doctors are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and they are dedicated to keeping you healthy. All of that from the comfort of your own home! Well, home or wherever you may be. I love that they are mobile. It means that Ma can talk with a doctor on her phone or table without a lot of help from me. She isn’t that great on the computer and the app is easy enough for her to use.

When I’m not home she can take of that for herself. It allows both her and my uncle to still maintain some of their own independence. Ma has used them for many things since she hates going to the doctor. It is like pulling teeth to get her into an appointment. Also when traveling I don’t have to worry about finding a doctor in network or searching for the closest clinic. We can spend our time doing more important things. Like trying to figure out the map of whatever place we are visiting that weekend.

I know that I can jump online and that Amwell can handle things such as:

  • Fever
  • Cold & Flu
  • Allergies
  • Sinus Infections
  • Stomach bugs
  • Rashes
  • UTI
  • and many other things

I don’t have to worry that a snow sledding day in the mountains will get interrupted because someone has the sniffles or maybe an upset stomach. Whether it is an adult or one of the kids. In fact I used Amwell recently when I had a sinus infection and didn’t want to deal with the hassle of a doctor’s office. I felt horrible and needed relief quickly.

This is the time of year that we are super busy. We have holidays plays and parades that we are getting ready for. No one wants to miss those because they wake up feeling poorly. Worst, have you ever been to a hospital on a holiday? It is packed and I’d rather call Amwell for something I know they can handle. That way we can get on with our day. Sometimes it is only one child that doesn’t feel well. I’m a firm believer it dealing with it quickly so that it doesn’t get passed around to everyone. That will happen if we have to wait for an appointment. Trust me there is nothing worst than having the entire house down with the stomach bug at one time. It has happened to us in the past. With four kids it’s bad enough. Add in two senior citizens who are like babies when they are sick plus being sick myself and life is unpleasant.

I’ve never heard of this. It would /will be so helpful for my daughter’s panic attacks, we make a lot of trips to urgent care and after hours of waiting she calms right down when a doctor is available. I think that just knowing this is at her disposal wouldmake a world of difference!
