Starting today and continuing all through 2013 I thought I would do something to show some appreciation for all the readers and fans who comment here on the blog and share my work on social media. It is because of all of you that I am able to continue doing what I do. So here is how it will work every so often I will choose a random winner from those who comment on Non-Giveaway Posts (most giveaways require you to comment to enter), those who share the posts on various social media, as well as those who are fans of my social media pages.
What I am going to do is select a small handful of posts and assign each person who comments a number and well as those who share the posts, and all fans will be assigned a number, etc. I will use random.org to choose a winner. The winner will win anything from a $20 Amazon gift card to products to a $500 Amazon gift card. The idea is that it is completely random. The winner will be announced here on the blog and on various social media sites. There will be no email to the winner, I will send them a direct message or they can email me if they see their name here.
I have no plan as to how often I will do this but I do know that the first two will be coming up just after the new year and will include posts from today and the day the winner is selected. I wanted to keep entering easy for all of you. You have to do nothing other that what you are already doing; commenting, sharing, and being fans. How many entries you get is determined by the number of comments, shares, fans, etc that you have. There really is no limit. Below is an example of how this will all work I will enter names, etc into a spreadsheet:
As you can see the spreadsheet assigns a number to each entry. Fan 1 has a total of 7 entries while Fan 2 has 3 entries. I then enter the total number of entries 10 into random.org and a winner is selected by giving me a number. You can give it a try by entering numbers into the widget below and see what number it gives you. You can find all the prizes and winners here.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

Very generous and awfully sweet of you to do!
I have been keeping comments a bit shorter than usual- I broke a finger and my hand the 13th- getting used to one handed left hand typing and I am not a lefty 🙂
Rita says
I understand, hope your finger gets better.

Sorry to hear Ellen. Hope you “feel” better soon! My husband always jokes. I ask him how he feels today. He says, “with my hands”. sorry, bad joke but do hope you are on the mend.

Wow–Thank you.

My only problem with this, is that I’m sure there are people like me, who read your posts but do not comment. Mostly because there is nothing i can say to add to the content, and I don’t like the idea of only writing comments to win something. I comment on things I find compelling and informing to myself.
Karen Medlin says
Wowzer, that sure is nice of you to do this.

THANKS GOODNESS for spread sheets! Computers are AWESOME, how else would anyone track something like this? I understand this way of thinking. i know many people blog hop and don’t stick around to get to know people better. To spread the word, to really care. I am guilty of this sometimes. I see so many other bloggers asking for comments more and as extra entries. I assume that companies are seeing that a blog does not necessarily have a “good following” just because their numbers are up to thousands or tens of thousands. They have to be aware by now that the people who really LISTEN to a blogger’s ideas, about a product, service, or even just family life are the ones who are going to take that “word of mouth” and trust you have in that blogger, and take it to the store or company or service and actually BUY it. Or, bloggers just want to know they are making a difference in the world and offering up their expertise and even care…and that is pretty cool. I hope we see a lot more action on your blog Rita, and me interacting more as well. If we get too busy sometimes, I applaud that it is all random and not only based on someone who has a ton of time commenting on every single post. Like another reader said, posts re not always relevant to every person on a blog, and commenting JUST to comment and get an entry just seems wrong sometimes. This idea is very fair and admirable! I’m in!

Sounds like a fun idea! I often read blog posts and then forget to comment or just don’t have the time if I am reading on my phone. Maybe this will encourage me to comment more.

I like playing with the random generator…
I am a little confused as to exactly when and where you will post the winners for this… I love to participate on a good blog, so that’s not a problem for me… but I don’t always visit daily, and would hate to win a great prize and not know I did, therefore loosing out…
