I never thought I would be using apps to me manage my CHF (congestive heart failure) but I am and they help me way more than I ever thought possible. I have a few that I use every single day and I thought I would share them with you as well. There is only one that is chf specific so you may want to use one or yourself.
Apple Watch Fitness
I used several apps that are built right into my Apple watch such as the fitness and workout apps. They allow me to measure what I am doing and stay on track of my cardio and other fitness. It makes like easier when all I have to do is look down and see where I am at. It is important that I get enough cardio in without over doing as we are working towards strengthening my heart.
Apple Watch Heart Analyzer
This one helps me know my heart rate at any give time. For me that is important because I want to get it up but if it gets above a particular number when I am not working out it can be bad. my heart already has to work harder to pump half as much. One side doesn’t pump or function well. That means staying on top of what is going on. By keeping both my blood pressure and heart rate in check I can do that.
@ Point of Care Heart Failure
This app allows me to log my symptoms and other information. This is the that my doctors asks to see the most. It is a daily journal where I answer some questions. I can add notes from the doctor, notes I need to discuss with the doctor as well as images if I need to.
I had one day where my feet where swelling oddly and I took a picture, stuck it in there and showed the doctor on my next visit. It’s just a great place to have it all together. Plus, like I said my doctor can look at just this app and see how I am doing at home.
Nutra Check Calorie Counter
This is the only paid app I have. I t wasn’t very much like $4.99 or something and if I remember correctly they have a free version. While I do use it to count calories, I use it more for the sodium counter. I can choose what it tracks and since I have to careful about my daily sodium intake I need to track it.
Center Health Blood Sugar
This one I have because I purchase my diabetes testing supplies from Center Health. I do struggle more than a little bit with this one. I am suppose to check an hour after eating each day and in the morning. The morning I check with no problem but I also forget after I eat. I am getting better with it though.
Loftilla Scale
I have to weigh myself every single day because if I gain it could mean I am retaining water which can put me in the hospital. The hospital gave me a scale when I left. It was one of those regular ones that meant I had to write down my weight. I found this one on Amazon and I love it. I get open the app, get on the scale, and then I’m done. I lets me know where I am in terms of goal and roughly my bmi.
These apps help me get through each day without going into the hospital or having to visit my doctor every single month. I can stay on top of my health and mange it from home. That is so important to me and thanks to this apps I feel as though I have taken control of things. I’m not depending on waiting for multiple tests to see how I am doing. I can get a rough estimate of that just by looking at my apps. My doctor can see them as well and see areas he may need to help me improve.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.
