You may all remember a couple of weeks ago I talked to you about the new Atkins® Meal Kits in this blog post. In that post I let you know that the meal kits give you a week’s worth of food and there are three different options for you to choose from. To remind you if you don’t already know, Atkins® is the leading low-carb program and as we all now know controlled carbohydrate eating is healthier for the body. It helps you maintain steady energy without blood sugar highs and lows.
So I did the week of eating the Evening Chef Meal Kit ($89.99) that I received and loved it! This kit provides fourteen frozen meals along with snack bars and shakes to take of breakfast, lunch, and snacks. You then cook you own dinner which I enjoy and want to eat the same as my family. There were a couple of dishes that I thought needed a little something more but I think it was simply a mind-set because in the past I would have had Chicken and Broccoli Alfredo with pasta. The Crustless Chicken Pot Pie was simply divine and loved it! So much so that I headed to the store to find more. My least favorite dishes were the egg breakfast dishes (again a personal thing because I am a fan of eggs) and the Beef Merlot. The Beef Merlot was a little thin for me and I was actually left a little hungry with it. Now though after reading The New Atkins Made Easy book, which is included in the kit, I know that I could have added a little something to it and been alright. As long as I stay within the allowed carbohydrate amount for the day.
A quick little side note, when you follow the heating directions on the package pay attention to what your microwave will do. One of the meals says to heat for like two minutes and then again for two minutes but my microwave over cooked it at that timing. Another thing and I know this is common sense but those little suckers are hot. I gave myself a steam burn because I turned my back for a second and one of the kids reached into the microwave to grab the dish. I grabbed it from them and the film vented up on one side pushing all the steam onto my hand.
Did I Lose Weight?
I know that is what you all want to know and the answer is no. Not because it doesn’t work but because it was a week’s worth of meals and if I could drop pounds that fast it would be a miracle. While Atkins® helps with the weight loss it is more a tool for me to help manage and maintain my blood sugar levels. The weight is secondary and something that I am certain will happen the longer I am on the program. For me personally being healthy is more important worrying over the weight which has been a battle for a while.
The Other Kits
The other two kits are the Easy Peasy Meal Kit ($97.99) that provides you with a variety of Atkins® Frozen Meals, Meal Bars and Shakes to cover breakfast, lunch and dinner but still make your own snacks and side dishes. As well as the Frozen Foodie Meal Kit ($69.99) which gives you variety of Atkins® Frozen Meals to make breakfast, lunch and dinner a breeze.

Hmm. It seems it was like a 50/50 thing with liking it by taste. I am picky too! When I work my night shifts at the hospital I work long hours and don’t always cook right. Is it worth it in the long run money and taste wise??
