Atreus Oak Cutting Board: Chop with Style

Jan 04, 2017 | Rita

If there was one item that every kitchen needs it is a great cutting board. In fact you actually need several of them and when you find one that not only works well but looks amazing then you leave it out all the time. Of course in my house that is if Ma will give the dang thing up for me to use because it just looks too purty to even think about messing up. It’s a cutting board!! Come On!!! The kids got a huge kick out of the fact that the Atreus Oak Cutting Board had to go through customs before it got here. They love when we get products from other parts of the world.

The Atreus Cutting Board is 100% oak and is handmade which is something I have never had before. It is a little on the heavy side, much heavier than most previous cutting boards but I think that really adds to the appeal of it. It isn’t so heavy that I can’t lift it however. I use it for cutting vegetables rather than meats in my kitchen since I have particular boards for that.

The handle is great and I can use it when I need to move my chopped veggies into the pot or bowl. Although my uncle made a remark that he could put a hole in the handle so I could hang it if I wanted to. Actually the first thing I said about this cutting board was that it would make an awesome paddle! No, I’m not gonna beat my kids with it although I swear there are times when they probably need it. It just reminded me a paddle a teacher had when I was in middle school. You know what I’m talking about, the one that hung by their desk daring you to do something wrong.

It is pretty thick as well which is probably what added to the weight. There are several sizes available and this is the smallest one. One thing I noticed though is that when you are choosing a size the design on some change. The design of the handle actually but I loved this one and am thankful that I was given it to review.

That beautiful cutting board should last you for many many years. Love it! My most-used cutting board is fairly large and made of bamboo. I’d love to upgrade to something like your new oak board. I’d also like to have one of those large boards with markings to help size pie crusts and things like that.

I need one of those large boards for pies. I’ve never used a bamboo cutting board before but I bet it is beautiful.

That is a beautiful cutting board! I understand about not wanting to mess it up. I have a bamboo board that I didn’t use forever because it is so pretty:)

It is beautiful and Ma is just like you. She never wants to use anything that is pretty and functional.

I love the color of the wood on this cutting board. At the last wedding I was at, the couple received a beautiful wood cutting board cut into the shape of their state. I thought the board was a clever choice.

The color is really great and what a wonderful gift idea. I will have to look for the boards in the shape of states.

I fell in love with wooden cutting boards years ago..I love finding vintage ones at thrift stores or garage sales but they are very hard to find..I would love a counter top made of walnut..one day! lol

I would love a counter top made of walnut as well. They just look so beautiful and I can see it making my kitchen look so much more fabulous than it currently does.

I love good, heavy, wooden cutting boards. The handle on this would come in handy. Just for moving it around I would refrain from using as a paddle 😉
