One item that you will find at my house, in my car, and in my bag is baby wipes. They are such a must have in my life. Way back before I had children my siblings began having kids and I learned the value of having wipes with me all the time. There have been plenty of times in those early years of kids in my life that I needed to wipe them down or wipe up a spill only to have nothing.
The most memorable moment that I needed wipes and didn’t have them is when my oldest nephew (who is now in his twenties and married with kids of his own) decided he needed to projectile vomit all over the car. It was awful and the middle of winter. Which means it was freezing. We had no wipes or washcloths or anything. It was so awful. I had to stop and go into the gas station and buy bottles of water and some paper towels.
The Moment
That was the moment I knew I would never be without wipes again. From that afternoon on I made sure I bought them and kept some in my car all the time. Now that I have children of my own I know how much more important having them are. There has only been one time in the last couple of years where I happened to be out of wipes and didn’t have them when I needed them.
Although I will say I had to much more stingy with them in March and April. Mostly because they weren’t in stock in the store when I went to buy more. At them beginning of this month they were back in stock and I bought a case. That’s normally how I purchase them. They are so handy. I can wipe down the twins face and hands if I need to. I mean they can get messy sometimes. I even use one to run through their hair in the summer. You know when they’ve fallen asleep in the ca and their hair needs a little bit of moisture to make it stay down. Even to cool them off a bit.
I can clean up spills that I have as well. I have been known to spill my tea while driving. Not to mention I use one to wipe down shopping cart handles (although I’m using sanitizer now) and tables at restaurants. There just so many uses that I hate to be without them. I know that is most likely part of my OCD but hey sometimes a girl has to do what a girl has to do.
Brands
I don’t have any one particular brand that I prefer over another. I typically buy a box of them from the Family Dollar here in town. I have purchased them from Walmart and Sams. I tend to buy the store brand as opposed to the name brand. Unless the name brand is on sale. I try not to spend a lot of money on them. I mean they are just wipes. At the same time I need ones that don’t fall apart. I also never get any scented ones and if they offer a sensitive skin one I will always get that one over the others. It is just easier than dealing with any reactions.
I used them a lot on the drive up last week. I wiped my hands when I went through the drive-thru as well as wipes my face down once I got here. I also used one to wipe down the twins before I dropped all of the kids off at their father’s house. I like for them to arrive as clean as possible.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.
