Battle Hole in the Knee Syndrome with Carhartt

Jan 26, 2013 | Rita

Carharrt Boys Jeans

If you have children then you know all about Hole in the Knee Syndrome! You go out and you buy them a pair of jeans, they wear two days (if you are lucky) and then there are the holes that always seem to somehow end up in the knees. I am not really sure why it is but the holes always start in the knees. I cannot tell you how many pair of jeans a month we go through. No matter how much I scream and yell (I sound so much like my mother) the holes happen and I end up buying more jeans.

Carhartt, America’s premium workwear brand, has jeans that are designed for the play ground as well. I bet you didn’t know that! We buy Carhartt a lot for hubby because he works in construction and Carharrt clothing holds up to everything he has to do. I buy him new clothing for work maybe once a year and it is usually because he has gone up or down a size not because the clothing has torn. I love Carhartt as a brand so I was super thrilled when they asked to send me a pair of jeans for the kids to try out.

Carharrt Boys Jeans Back View

The Boys Washed Denim Dungaree Pants are great! I have not heard jeans called Dungarees in a long time, it is what my aunt always called them. The first thing I noticed is that like all Carhartt clothing these are built to last. They are strong and durable which means they pass the first test. Next was the sizing, I got a 6 but was a bit worried they would be too small. They were actually a little too big but have they button adjustment that many kids pants have nowadays which means I could get a custom fit. They are a bit long but that is what happens when you are short. Once we put on shoes they were fine.

They look really great on and since yesterday was ice and sleet they got put to the ultimate test. All the slipping and sliding around outside and then of course all of the crawling around on the floor inside the house. Any other jeans would have bitten the dust by now. There is not a single hole, I mean not even a hint of a hole in the knees of these pants. THANK GOD!! Carhartt makes many other boys clothing items but they also have great girls jeans and clothing as well.

I could never figure out how my son always put holes in the knees of his jeans. I wish I would have known about Carharrt when he was younger. I have bought some men’s Carharrt shirts and pants for my husband. They last a long time and are worth every penny.

We haven’t used Carhartt pants yet but I’ll have to check them out!
I have heard that Sears offers a special program for kids’ clothing where if the child wears out the piece of clothing (e.g. holes in the knees) during that season you could bring it back and get a new pair (same style and size)..

I used to think it was only a boy thing, but my girls always had holes in the knees too! And often it was simply from playing on the carpet with their toys and dolls or the dog…even now my 20 year old gets holes in her knees from being down on the floor with day care kids. It’s just not acceptable that you pay 20-50 for a single pair of jeans and they wear so thin .

I had two boys and they were rough enough, but honestly my youngest daughter should be a tester for clothing products. She wears em’ all out. She is kind of sports nut.

Love to hear about the Carhartt jeans. My 15 year old could use some for his outdoor activities as well as my 5 year old grandson. And heck, even the little toddlers around here could benefit!

I could have used these when my oldest son was small. He really went through pants!

We live in Florida so I don’t buy jeans too often for my son! I’ve been really lucky until this year. I’ve gone through 4 pairs in the last 6 weeks! HOW does this happen! I’m going to try these Carhartt pants! Thank you!

I like the brand and honestly have bought them. The only drawback to Carhartt quite simply is the price at times.

I would have loved to have Carhatt when mine were young; the knees were always the first to go!

Sears used to offer a satisfaction guarantee that allowed you to exchange any pair of jeans if they got ripped before the wearer grew out of them. It was during the Kidvantage card days. Now that they have discontinued this membership, they also discontinued the guarantee. I guess I will try Carhartt now.
