If you need to hire an exterminator, then there are a few things you need to know first. You’ll need to consider your problem and what you expect the exterminator to be able to do for you. There’s a lot you can learn from your exterminator too. For everything you need to know about hiring an exterminator, read on…
A Tidy Kitchen Isn’t Always Enough To Keep Bugs At Bay
Some people think that keeping their kitchen tidy will deter bugs from coming in. Although as https://www.pestcontrolexperts.com/exterminator/arizona/ has told us, this is one preventive step you can take, it isn’t always enough to stop them from coming in. If you have things like mold and damp in your home for instance, this can attract pests. Pests can be extremely attracted to moisture, both inside and outside of your home. Try to keep moisture and pools of damp away from your home, and keep your drains unclogged. Any decorative pools you have could also attract pests, so make sure you keep them well maintained, and a good eye on them to ensure you don’t have infestation. You should also make sure that your food is stored safely, and that you don’t leave any out. Pests are attracted to food, whether it’s fresh or not.
Just Because You Don’t See Pests Doesn’t Mean They Aren’t There
Just because you can’t see pests with your eyes doesn’t mean that they aren’t there in your home. If you have signs of pests but you can’t see them, don’t automatically think that it must be something else. You need to be vigilant. Some bugs can be hard to spot, and mild infestations can be difficult to pinpoint too. Make sure you know all of the signs to look for, such as blood spotting and droppings. There are devices you can invest in that you leave in a potential problem area that detect pests too. They could be an option if you want to be sure that you have a problem.
Preventive Measures Are Crucial To Maintaining A Healthy Home
Taking as many preventive measures as possible is crucial to maintaining your home. This means sealing up cracks in walls and under doors, as you could be inviting them right into your home if you don’t. Make sure you keep your home clean and tidy too, as well as keep your bins and other rubbish away from your home.
Don’t Try To Fix The Problem Yourself – You Might Make It Worse
Some people try to tackle the problem themselves before calling in a pro. While this may seem like you’re going to save money in the long run, this isn’t always the case. You might end up actually using something that scatters the pests, rather than kills them. Then you’re going to have an even bigger problem on your hands! If you use the wrong treatment for your problem, you’ll definitely need to call in a pro eventually. Make sure you’re very careful when weighing up your options. You can click here for an idea of who could help you with your problem.
Your Exterminator Won’t Get Rid Of Lice
If you have a lice problem in your home, this is a medical problem. It is not a problem your exterminator can help you with. Different exterminators may focus on different pests, so make sure you have this conversation before you select the one to help you. Some are covered by different licenses, so this part is crucial!
Not Every Pest Is Bad For Your Health
Not every pest out there is necessarily bad for your health. Spiders have a bad reputation, but they can actually stop other bugs from coming into your house, so that’s something to consider. However, if you do happen to see spiders all over the place, you could have an infestation. Lady beetles in your garden are great too, as they eat other pests. Then there are termites, which cause billions of damage each year. It’s important to know which pests are a problem and which aren’t that bad.
There you have it. Everything you need to know before you hire an exterminator. Make sure you don’t try to treat the problem yourself if you’re not certain of what it is. It could also be a good idea to notify your neighbors. If you have a problem, there’s every chance they may have a problem too. Not only that, they may want to take extra preventive measures to ensure no pests follow them into their house.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

When I was in the south, pests were always a problem. Even in nicer neighborhoods with clean kitchens, the cockroaches were always there. Ewww. We usually had a regular spraying service.

The mere idea of bugs in my home completely creeps me out and as much s I am a DIY type person, there is no way I would try to tackle taking on pests on my own. Good informative article.

Yes! All very good information! We used to have a contract with a company that sprayed every two months for ants, spiders, etc. They were also supposed to take care of rodents but every time we had field mice, it was our traps, not theirs, that caught them.

Love this! Really dislike when folks kill the good bugs.

It never occurred to me that tacking a pest problem myself could simply scatter them and actually make the problem worse. Thanks for sharing this informative post. And thanks for saying that not all bugs are bad–I’m kind of a fan of most bugs and am more likely to catch them and put them outside than I am to kill them.

We had a beetle infestation in the neighborhood. Fortunately, no one had problems inside houses but the outside of the houses were covered in red and black beetles that have never been seen in large numbers around here. Now wondering if it is going to be a cyclical thing or if they were just passing through.
