Best New Tech Features & Gadgets to Improve Life

Feb 08, 2018 | Rita

“There’s an app for that” or “there’s a device that does that for you” are phrases that seem to be thrown around more regularly with the recent tech boom; they represent an aim for a less laborious and a more luxurious day-to-day lifestyle for humankind. When washing dishes by hand became too time consuming, humans invented the dishwasher. When we didn’t want to drive anywhere to go birthday shopping — or even grocery shopping — humans invented online shopping.

Humans are continuing these lifestyle advancements through technology to chip away the drudgery of trivial responsibility and allow additional time for exploring more fruitful pastimes. One example of this forward-thinking approach is LinkSecured in Phoenix, which provides innovative colocation data center solutions, enabling businesses to streamline operations and focus on growth. Here are a few of the latest in features and gadgets that technology is offering today:

Facial Recognition Technology

Facial recognition technology is nothing new. It is, however, the first time facial recognition sensors have been implemented into mobile phone technology. Apple was the first to release this technology, calling it Face ID, with its newest iPhone X smartphone. The feature is to enhance personal security: unlocking the phone to the homepage and for payment options (i.e. Apple Pay).

The company boasts that the feature is so secure that there’s a one-in-a-million chance someone could breach the newest iPhone X. They’ve claimed that the feature has even passed realistic 3-D mask trials in an attempt to bypass the new technology, and only allows access to the correct person while it’s dark or whether they’re wearing glasses, a hat, or after growing a beard. This, however, is only the beginning of phone biometrics. Smartphones may eventually include sensors for face, iris, and fingerprint recognition in conjunction — where the user can switch between or utilize all of the features.

Productivity / Finance Apps

With the surge in freelance work and online small businesses also came timely business management technology that has set a new productivity standard for business owners and freelancers across the world. Business tools that independently foster marketing and customer service ideas and suggestions, to apps that make finance and design decisions that make the user look and operate as if they themselves had studied those fields in school.

There are even apps that work towards increasing productivity alone, like Coffitivity — a website that creates specific white noises while working, based on some work-related productivity research in Japan. With every section of the work field, there is a business tool to help the user. Here are some of the top business tools sorted by section:

  • Writing – Calmly
  • Project Management – Insightly
  • Marketing – Squarespace
  • Finance – Quickbooks
  • Resource and Advice – Fiscal Tiger
  • Design – Sketch

Health and Wellness Tech

If technology is revolutionizing anything, it’s the healthcare industry. According to Arizona State University, “Today, more than ever, Americans have the power to prevent disease by making healthy lifestyle choices.” This is due to a large selection of mobile wellness and health monitoring apps that aid in monitoring key health indicators like activity, stress, and heart rate.

Mobile health monitors, wellness apps, and telemedicine are just a few of the game-changing examples for healthcare technology. Doctors and caregivers also use these monitoring systems for their patients, and based on the results, can give the patient specific instructions on how to improve their results. According to the CDC, more than 100 million American adults are living with diabetes, and 610,000 people die of heart disease per year. That’s an estimated 1 in every 4 deaths.

There is a ton of impressive and useful technology that, of course, couldn’t possibly be covered in one article, but when it comes to personal security, small business, and health, this is where technology has set the bar and revolutionized these aspects of human life.

These all sound so nifty, and as of right now I’m not using any of these. I’d like to have a smartphone and have some good apps.
