One of the first arguments over whether God exists or doesn’t has to be about the Big Bang. There simply is noway around it. many people argue you can’t create something out of nothing, only God can do that. the truth of the matter is that science can create something out of nothing. It has been proved and can be done. So the argument hat only God can do it no longer holds water.
Chances are the big bang did happen and that is what created the Earth. Does that mean that God did not plan apart in it? No it doesn’t. Someone or something had to make the conditions right for that bang to happen. Even if science argues it was nothing more than pure luck then they believe in luck, a higher power in and of itself, that something can happen.
That picture above has all sorts of things in that I honestly don’t understand. Just because I don’t understand though doesn’t mean it is not a true and accurate depiction of what happened with the big bang. You can clearly see they coming into being and what happened.
Now the bible tells us that God said let there be light and there was light. It doesn’t say when this happened or how this happened. Did it take a really long time? It says that God create the Earth and man in six days and on the seventh day he rested. How long is a day to God? Could 1 day to him be a billion years to us? When the bible was written science was not known and in no way understood.
If you had said that the big bang happened back there you most likely would of found yourself dead. Now we have the understanding and knowledge of things like the big band and how the universe works. While understanding all of that is important it doesn’t mean that there is no higher power at work. Most people would tell me that I can’t believe in evolution and the big bang and believe in God at the same time. My response is why not? It happened but no one not even science can say that God didn’t have a hand in it. There is no proof either way.
Do you believe the big bang happened?
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

I’m with you – there’s no reason you can’t believe in the big bang and evolution (which is, um, documented science) and still be a person of faith. I can’t be around people who insist on literal interpretation of the Bible or, at least, I know to steer clear of any discussion of science or religion when I am!

I think that science is going to find themselves proving the bible more than often than not.

I believe in God, he created all! Our earth is how many years old?? and scientists are still learning so the point is if it wasn’t created by God then how come it has taken so many years to come up with the Big Bang theory???
Rita says
good point!

I believe that God created everything. If the Big Bang happened then God did it and evolution is the work of God.

Science is not about proving God. Science is about learning what things are and how things work. And scientific discoveries about how the world really works, including Physics (Big Bang) and Biology (Evolution through Natural Selection) are absolutely astounding. If one has faith in a God who created all things, it is a huge snub to that God to NOT wonder, amazed, at how it all works, how interconnected everything is, how much bigger God is than what they thought.
Rita says
I agree with you. I find it funny that as you said Science ins’t about proving God yet somehow they manage to do just that in their need to understand and explain all things.

Oh this is a great post! I love that you have broached this subject. I believe in the big bang theory and I believe in the work of God. I totally feel you can believe in both. Science has proven certain facts. But we also have the word in the bible, which is the word of God. Why can’t it all be the work of God in the end? That’s my thoughts.
Karen says
I’m sure about one and not the other. One is a theory and one can’t be proven.
