There are plenty of reasons why you might decide to start a blog. As a portion of your online business, to dive into your interests or even to simply rant. Blogging is good, it’s fun and it can be a job!
Blogging? It’s basically sharing in a written form. You share what you see with photos and videos and then expand on that with words. You share reviews on products, you share industry insight. Blogging is about sharing a bit of you, or your company on the internet. But it’s also about learning. Not many bloggers start off as experts on everything, but as they curate new posts and start to dip their toes into new areas, bloggers will certainly learn a lot more as they continue to write.
There’s a lot of reasons as to why you should blog – especially if you’re in business. Everyone in business wants more people to visit their own business website. Now, you can hope that someone stumbles across you with a search engine, you could put adverts everywhere – but you really want to drive traffic to your website yourself with organic content, social media and blogging. It all comes together! You see – the pages on your website won’t change much – your contact details stay the same and you won’t added pages unless you release something new to sell – thus adding a page for it. There are no organic ways to update your website further – except by blogging. Each post is a new page on your website. The more pages you have? The more chance you’ll show up on Google. Simply put, the more pages you have – the more that the search engines will realize that your business site is an active site that produces content. Content like blogs also helps you get noticed on the various social media channels that exist. If your writing connects with someone, they might share it with their audience or set of followers. Blog content is a great way to grow organic content that can be shared consistently over social media instead of trying too hard to come up with something. Bolster your reach to audiences with blogs if you’re in business.
How to do well at blogging? Well you need to be able to write first! Writing and grammar are the key cornerstones to blogging and if your writing skills need work, you’ll need to improve on them. Why? Your audience is going to expect that of you, that’s why.
If you want to succeed, you’ll also have to find a niche, and then find a niche within that niche. To demonstrate this – we found a blogger that wanted to write about disability, but then jumped even further into that niche to write about her specific, and rare, condition. It’s that kind of angle that will help you out as the internet is already full of blogs on the subjects you like and would want to write about, so choose to dive deeper! This will help you out.
While diving into a small niche will help you succeed, nothing will be overnight. A blog, a business, a project – anything – won’t be successful overnight – it takes seriously hard work, and it won’t happen in a month. You need to put your back into it and develop it over years and keep questioning your methods. It’s just not years of writing, though – it’s years of research, networking, branding and talking.
Monetizing blogs is a tricky subject, and if you’ve dived into a niche, you might find it harder to do. What’s important to remember is that you deserve to be paid for your work. Just ensure that you are not going overboard – give your readers what they want and don’t be too commercial if it’s a strictly personal blog. Some blogs sell merchandise, and if you are doing that or running an online business, you need to sure that your postage is secure with remote addresses from sites like physicaladdress.com. The internet has no borders, so neither should your post – especially if you are shipping goods from your blog.
Successful blogging isn’t just about writing. You should look to add content and branch out. Podcasting is a good idea, but you can also create videos and other items. Just be creative and search for ways how you can present your content in a different manner to what you usually do.
No matter if it’s for business use, personal use or even both – there are plenty of ways to succeed with blogging, you just need a good foundation of hard work and effort.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.
