Book Review: Get You Some by Lani Lynn Vale

Jun 07, 2018 | Rita

The 3rd book in The Simple Man Series is finally LIVE!  This is one that I was thrilled to read since it is Johnny’s story who happens to be Sebastion’s son and Silas’ grandson. I wonderred how much much like  the men in his family he was. Get your copy of GET YOU SOME (Simple Man 3) today!

Synopsis

You want some?
She snarls those words at him with barely concealed hostility the moment he arrives at her window to ask for her license and registration.
After a few choice words, he lets her go with not one ticket, but three.
Next time she should check the attitude at the door and realize that he’s a cop, and just doing his job.
Come get some.
Fast forward a week, and he’s still unable to think about anything else but her and her bad attitude-oh, and those sexy lips, angry eyes, and her promise to make his life hell.
Knowing he should stay away, he takes a step back and tries not to think about anything that has to do with those long legs, and that mouth that could be used for much better things than spewing venom.
Then she makes a mistake.
At an interview, she rattles off a random number to use as a reference for a job that she desperately needs, and that number just happens to be Johnny’s.
She’ll regret being so rude, and one day she’ll think twice when she decides to throw attitude toward a man like him.
Vowing to make her life hell, he decides to have a little fun.
Never get enough.
What he doesn’t expect is to fall for her.
The more Johnny learns about June, the deeper he digs his hole. Soon, he doesn’t know which way is up, and he’s just fine with that.
Over time, he learns that not everyone bothers to dig past her prickly demeanor and get to the woman that lives deeper.
When one too many citizens of Hostel, Texas tries to back her against the wall, he’s had enough.
After all, you don’t mess with what’s his.

My Thoughts

ON THIS BOOK

Not since the original Johnny and June has a couple been more destined for one another. After all Johnny spent his life being groomed to love a June. I just love the fact that Johnny got a girl named June! Especially since Silas has such a thing for Johnny Cash. Even though Johnny is Sebastian’s son he reminded me very much of Sam. Johnny came home from the military a different man, one who needs to find out what is next for him. He ends up a cop in Hostel away from most of his family (cause trust me they are all up in everyone’s business) and meets June.

June is the town punching bag for lack of a better word. Not everyone treats her as poorly as most but there is a huge portion of the town that does. The reason they treat her that way? The genetics that she carries! I swear for such a small town it is the most corrupt and hateful ever. Just the way I like it in a book because that means the hero looks all the better.

Johnny takes on the task of proving to the entire town that June is nothing like her parents not to mention she is his. Of course his crazy ex (I’m talking certifiable crazy) decides she wants him back. This chick takes stalker to whole new level. I kept waiting for her to pop up while he was in the bathroom.

There are so many moments that proved just how much June was perfect for Johnny. The biggest is when she calls his father when she is unsure what to do. Even though Johnny hasn’t really spoken to his family June just knows that they will help. I also really liked her boss, Coke, who will be the next book. He’s older but right away recognizes the gem June is. He not only gives her a job but allows her to use her degree too. If for no other reason I would suggest reading this book for Johnny’s Facebook page posts. He takes over the Hostel Police Department page and lets just say that I fell off my chair I was laughing so hard at one point.
