Book Review: The Highlander’s Folly {Talk About Wanting To Reach Through Pages and Slap Someone}

Jan 23, 2015 | Rita

The Highlander's Folly
I know I told you already that I was sorry about the number of Highlander themed books that would coming your way this year as I read my way through 1000 books. While I am sorry I am shamelessly reading through them all and I really hope that you will enjoy some of them as well. The Highlander’s Folly caught my eye on NetGalley for so many different reasons and has now earned a coveted spot on the home page of my reader.

A brave fifteenth-century Highlander fiercely devoted to his foster family, Hunter of clan MacKintosh can defeat any man in battle. Thanks to his fae gifts, he can read the intent of his opponents and guess their next moves. But when the faerie Madame Giselle sends Hunter to the present day, he stumbles into a staged battle and rescues a young knight—only to discover that the knight is a woman, and she’s anything but a damsel in distress.

Meghan McGladrey learned martial arts and sword fighting from her father, a time-traveling Highlander himself. To Hunter’s surprise, Meghan is as skilled as any knight. When both of them are pulled back to the fifteenth century, Meghan becomes desperate to return to her time. Hunter, who is pledged to another, begins to fall for the beautiful, brave warrior as they fight side by side against a common enemy. Now, he must decide which matters more: his honor, or following his heart.

Exciting battles and intoxicating passion reunite in the third Novel of Loch Moigh from award-winning author Barbara Longley.

OMG!! This book was fabulous! First I am not new to the time travel story line but I like that it is Hunter who goes and gets Meghan. Even though this is the 3rd book in this series it stands well on its own and I have not read any of the other books. There were times when I wanted to reach through the pages and just slap Hunter. In fact I love when his friend tells him how utterly stupid he has been. It is so obvious how much Hunter actually cares for Meghan but he is stubborn while she is busy trying to fight her own feelings and get back to her time. This was a journey I was thrilled to go along on and enjoyed every second!

      It is really good and I also love all genres but for some reason romance seems to me my thing at the moment. Maybe it’s because I don’t have any in my life right now.

    I don’t mind a series if it’s good. I’m not a huge fan of time travel stories though. Although, I’m willing to try new books if I read good reviews. I appreciate that you are sharing your opinions as you read your 1000 books this year.

      I am not a huge fan of time travel either because it has been done so many times but as I read these books I am finding that each author has brought his or her own ideas into the mix and while I can live with the time travel it isn’t always the most important part of the story. I am hoping I can make it through 1000 this year but I am working on it.
