Once Upon a Plaid by Mia Marlowe
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
It has been a while since I read romance novels and I am really glad that Once Upon a Plaid was my first venture back into that genre. This is the second in the series and it stands perfectly well on it’s on (I have not read the first.) Katherine and Will love one another but their marriage has become strained. After a stillbirth and then four miscarriages Katherine has run to her father’s keep to spend Christmas and gather her courage to set Will free. Will loves his wife and the last thing he wants is to be set free. He follows her and sets out to “woo” his wife.
Will finally begins opens up to Katherine about his grief after taking a little advice from Nab the fool. Once they begin sharing their feelings and talking they begin to heal but with treachery stalking within their mists will it last? Will and Katherine are great characters and I love that the struggle to have a child was tackled. Nab is also a character I really loved! While he may be a fool he happens to be the smartest person there.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

I always enjoy a good book about after marriage, not just the falling in love part.

It was a good book about marriage and the struggles of it. I have several good books about that to share with you all this month.

I don’t think I have ever really read a “Romance” novel. Most every book you read has a romance in it but I don’t think I have read one like this. It sounds like a very emotional ride. I can’t even imagine 4 miscarriages and a stillbirth. I hope that it ended on a good note for such a tragic story. I’m intrigued by who Nab is.

Nab is great! It was an emotional ride but so worth it.

I enjoy a good love story too! I like that this book, although in a series, you don’t have to start from the first book.

I like that as well. I have no problem with a series but it is nice when a book stands on its own as well.

I love a good romance book, the last romance book that I read was The Wedding, I cannot remember the author but it was amazing..about Knights, Lairds, Queens, I felt that I was there.

That book sounds awesome Ginette! I love that time period. My Nook keeps suggesting Scottish, Time-Traveling books to me and I have a few on there to read.
