While providing exceptional customer service and selling one-of-a-kind products are excellent ways to drawn in customers and promote a positive image, marketing outside of your company’s walls will ultimately promote the awareness of your business to potential customers.

Let’s face it, whether we’re driving, taking a stroll, or shopping online, marketing is all around us; billboards, TV and radio commercials, online ads, and newspapers, just to name a few. Usually, small businesses hesitate to use extravagant forms of marketing due to the expensive price tag that comes with it.

As frugal alternatives, business owners take advantage of social media networking and other free marketing tools. While social media networks only reach audiences at a virtual level, designing customized accessories and gear, then handing them out to customers, is more of a personal marketing approach.

Did you know “the average length of time a [promotional] wearable was held among respondents was nearly 7 months.” as researched by Advertising Specialty Institute (ASI). With 56 percent of promotional items kept at home, can you imagine how many people have seen your company’s customized t-shirt, bag or hat in seven months?

Besides the many benefits you’ll receive from promotional items, what customer wouldn’t like a freebie? Here are some great ideas to start marketing your business through the use of customized gear and accessories;

·  Apparel– What better way to expand your company than by wearing your business everywhere you go? ·  Bags– Through a case study relating to impressions promotional items made on consumers, ASI found “bags made the highest number of impressions (approximately 1,038 per month).” With the huge impact customized bags have on consumers, business owners can take advantage promotional tote bags, backpacks, shoulder bags, laptop bags, or even purses to help give their company positive publicity.

·  Drinkware– Not just for promoting your company to potential customers, customized coffee mugs are a great way to get employee excited about a company meeting early in the morning. A thermal travel mug is a great promotional drinkware item that would be appreciated by both customers and employees. Some companies who offer customized gear and accessories charge anywhere from $2 to $5 per thermal travel mug. Browse different options to get the best prices!

·  Writing/Stationary– Handing out customized pens, pencils and other stationary items to customers is a great way to start marketing your business. Everyone needs something to write with, why not leave your company’s mark wherever your customers go? From calculators to notepads and more, make an impact by putting your company’s name and logo on office, business, and stationary supplies.

·  Miscellaneous– Other great items to put your company’s personal stamp on are; keychains, magnets, stress balls, Frisbees, miniature flashlights and many more. Get creative! Get group together with your colleagues and think of different items that could benefit your business’ brand.

    My husband is a carpenter for many years we have handed out pens when he does an estimate. We have had many repeat customers referring to the penss to give him call backs.

    I can’t count the number of times I have referred to a pen or a kitchen magnet to remember the number for a business I -shirts with a cool design are worn over and over for a long time–the thing is to make a cool design.

    It’s true, people always want free things, so adding your advertisement on anything that would be something that’s desired and kept would be the most effective way to market your business. If you’ve ever seen any type of booth at a business conference or other huge publicity event, there is always free items given as promotional freebies. Branding to these accessory items is one method to reach a wider pool of potential clients.
