Synopsis
Spring brings a renewed sense of hope to the Death Sands… but a new danger threatens the dragons of Durn.
Once on the verge of extinction, the dragons are now recovering with a new generation of hatchlings. The leader of the dragon riders, Sela Matu, waits anxiously for word from her dragon, Brinsop, who has retreated into the Death Sands to nest.
Weeks pass, and then one day, Sela hears the distant voice of her dear friend at last, delivering the joyful news; her dragon hatchlings have arrived! Elated, Sela ventures deep into the desert to reunite with Brinsop and meet her new brood.
But a trap has been set. Lurking among the desert tribes is a mysterious stranger whose intentions may be sinister. Sela must hurry to Brinsop’s side, or else the hatchlings may be lost forever. Can Sela stop this threat before it’s too late?
My Review
Okay I will tell you that this was simply the most marvelous YA book I have read in a while with the exception of the original series that this is a spin-off of. This is a stand alone book and if you haven’t read the you can still follow along with this one easily. In fact Victoria read it and she hasn’t read the original series yet because Daniel is still reading it. Right off the bat let me say that I love the Map of Durn it really helps things come to life for you. Like I said this was a wonderful story and Kristian Alva can write like no one’s business. Here is a very brief example
A canary yellow sunrise flare brightly in the desert sky, casting shadows upon the Death Sands. Only a scattering of brush broke the endless sea of dunes.
And that is just the first two sentences! Can’t you just see the open, vast desert stretching out in front of you? Sela was the kind of hero that you want your daughter to read about. Strong when she needed to be but the love she has for Brinsop comes off the page in waves. Brinsop is an awesome dragon too! I have never had to to tell my daughter that she would have to wait to read something until I was done but I did. I even hid in the bathroom to read this is in peace.
Author note
Hello Readers!
Thank you for purchasing Brinsop’s Brood, the first book in the Dragon Stone Adventures series. Dragon Stone Adventures are stand-alone novellas with different settings and main characters that tie into the main Dragon Stone series. I wanted to write a story that featured Sela as a main character, since she’s always been a fan favorite. I worked on this manuscript for over a year, writing and rewriting the story until I felt it was ready. I hope you enjoy reading Brinsop’s Brood as much as I enjoyed writing it.
All my best,
Kristian
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

I used to read a ton of fantasy books and this looks pretty good. I dont even mind the YA if they are well written. I like the authors descriptive words and how she paints a picture you can imagine.

I’m looking for some new authors/stories for my daughter. She tends to like this type of story; I’m going to have her read this post and see what she thinks.
