One third of the children in America are pre-diabetic and a large number of the adult and child population is obese. These problems have arisen because:
- Kids eat too much fast food and get too much sugar
- Kids don’t know much about nutrition and healthy eating
- Parents know just as much as kids about nutrition
Two movies that could paint the picture of America’s eating habits in a clear light are Food, Inc. and Super size Me. You should watch them to understand the long-term effects that bad eating habits have on you and your kids.
My wife grew up in Idaho where everything that they ate was grown on her farm itself. She took a really long time to come to terms with the fact that not everybody does that or even wants to do that. But, on Crystal’s insistence, our home has been one that sticks to healthy eating. We even get together with our grandkids to cook full meals that are nutritious. That’s how they’ve developed healthy eating habits. Thanks to my lifestyle, I am often complimented on how young I look.
I know others though, who always complain of fatigue. That is the effect of stuffing your body with unhealthy foods. When you eat at a fast food joint, you are consuming transfats which metabolize into human fat that is very difficult to get rid of. Fast food joints also offer only cold drinks which don’t really alleviate thirst and in fact, leach calcium from your body. When your body receives only unhealthy stuff, it will react in a similar fashion – by not being as productive as it can be if it were receiving healthy food.
Your kids’ dreams and ambitions are dependent on their ability to work hard to achieve them. If they are constantly tired and fatigued due to unhealthy eating habits, they will be unable to be as productive as they need to be to achieve their dreams. Instill healthy eating habits in your family today so that your kids grow up to be healthy and happy individuals who can do whatever they want to without being held back by the effects of bad eating habits.

I’ve seen both those movies, I refuse to take my kids to McDonald’s, and they only get fast food maybe once a month if that it really sickens me to see other parents feeding their kids that poison three times a week

So much of this is time related……… or the excuse of time anyway. I eat fast foods now and again and it is always when I am pressed for time. We usually try and limit it to Subway though and eating at home so the drinks arent an issue.

Those two movies completely changed my life. My son was late teen age when we saw them, and it has changed his eating, too. My grand-children have never eaten McDonald’s or Burger King. I wish all Americans would see these. The implications go beyond food to address the general culture and waywe “think” about almost everything.
