Once you pass that 30 mark, your skin will start to sag, loosen and wrinkle and many of us start to think about ways to address that. Unsurprisingly, skin tightening Orange County clinics are getting a lot of requests for information from people in that age category. People wonder whether there is any point getting skin tightening done, however, as it is known that they only achieve between 20% and 30% of the results achieved by a face lift. However, do you really want to go under the knife, with all the associated risk?
Plus, as technology develops, there are now treatment options that are far more effective than traditional skin tightening techniques. By using laser treatments, which addresses the subcutaneous areas of the skin, or by using radiofrequency and infrared, results are improving even more. Visit a skin specialist in KL and get rid of your skin issues.
How Does that Work?
When we get older, our skin becomes less elasticated. Because of this, our skin isn’t able to stick to our face and body as tightly. Two components determine the elasticity of your skin, being elastin and collagen. These are found in the dermis, the deep parts of the skin. The two components lie just above the layer of fat in our skin. When this heats up to 66 degrees C, it contracts, thereby tightening the skin. This is a procedure known as ‘remodeling’, and it takes several rounds of treatments to have really good results.
Almost all skin tightening procedures now focus on remodeling. They aim to make the collagen contract using safe, non-invasive techniques, making the skin tighten. The difficulty is in make sure that the tightness of the collagen remains. This is accomplished through various techniques and different clinics tend to have different preferences. Radiofrequency energy, deep skin heating and infrared energy (or combinations of these three) are generally used. Machines that heat the collagen are used that, at the same time, have a cooling device included, so that there is no chance of the skin actually burning. This is a sophisticated method of working that should only be done by trained professionals.
Is it Effective?
It is a known fact that these methods work. The question becomes, however, how well they work. At least three to four treatments are usually required, and they must be between four and six weeks apart. This means it can take well over three months before results to be visible. The improvement is noticeable, but certainly not as much as that achieved with a face lift.
However, face lifts often go wrong. They also do not last forever, which means people often return for further treatments. There is a significant risk of scarring and infections are also common. It is also very expensive and recovery time is long and painful. While it is true that the results are better, if all goes to plan, it is important to weigh up these risks.
What about the Cost?
Generally, you can expect to pay around $1,000 for each round of treatment, although discounts will generally be given for multiple treatments.

My skin has definitely lost elasticity and I turned forty this year and have really noticed a lack of tone, too. I don’t think I’d ever try a facelift, as I’ve seen too many that go wrong. I am open to fillers and other procedures, though.

I’m in the group that says I will just go with what happens. Fortunately, I look about 10-15 younger than I am. I stay out of the sun for the most part and take good care of my face.

I have seen too many facelift horror stories! Luckily, I found an awesome skincare line about 8 months back and much of my sun damage has already been erased and my tone is improving by the day!!

I’ve tried a procedure that used radiofrequency energy, deep skin heating and infrared energy, and it does make a difference. It was pricey, but not in comparison to a face life. It’s been about 3 years, and I would like to have it done again, mostly just to increase collagen production. They do like for their clients to return for follow up maintenance procedures, but I didn’t.

Being healthy, staying hydrated and moisturized, and just a touch of light, natural makeup is a good way to present your skin. It is okay to have a few wrinkles.

My philosophy is this, I have earned every wrinkle and grey hair on my body. I wouldn’t change a thing. I’m happy as I am. I don’t know if I will say the same thing in 5 years or 10, but for now at 48 I’m good.
