I really like when romance books aren’t what you expect them to be. We have all read the guy meets girl, they fall in love, and some things get in the way stories. Can’t Walk Away is different in so many ways and I think that is what drew me to it when I first say it on NetGalley.
About the Book
A convenient, casual, and completely orgasmic fling. What more could a girl want?
For the past year, barista Ally Barrett has been content to spend her weekends distracting River Bend’s hottest commodity—the sexy, too-serious sheriff. Their casual arrangement suits her independent nature just fine…until it doesn’t.
Sheriff and Army Guardsman Mark Dunn lives to serve the people of his community and his country. Ally is the only woman who’s never asked for more than his nights—and the only one he’s ever considered giving his days, as well. Too bad duty says otherwise.
When an unexpected pregnancy flips their no-strings understanding on its head—and tarnishes both of their reputations—Mark has a tough time proving he wants a real relationship and not just reelection. But if this sheriff knows anything, it’s how to fight for what he believes in—Ally’s heart.
Warning
This book contains a hero who’s all business and no play…unless there’s a dress and a hot redhead involved.
My Thoughts
These two! I swear if they could just talk to each other honestly they would avoid all sorts of issues. I love how Can’t Walk Away begins. The scene in the bar is great and really shows from the get go both Ally and Mark’s hands (so to speak.) She is tired of waiting for him and his silence has driven her to take drastic measures but for him his silence means something else. They spend a lot of time trying to fight and poor Mark every single time he tries to tell Ally how he feels he screws it up big time. She is just as bad though. She rushes over to tell him she is pregnant but things go South but fate has other plans and he finds out. Both Ally and Mark are great characters and well written. I really love Ally’s dad as well although there was a time or two that I didn’t like him. He sealed his fate as my favorite when he told Mark how he knew that he was the man for Ally. This is the third book in the River Bend series but it stands very well on its own.

I’m not much of a romance fan but this sounds intriguing! It doesn’t quite sound like the typical love story. Thanks for sharing your perspective.

Your welcome! It is not the typical love story. They are already in love but are just too caught up in what everyone in town thinks or finding the right moment. I swear if Mark had said he was waiting for the right moment one more time I would have slapped him. This story is about two people who love each other and want to be together if they can just find a way to mesh their lives together and finally just say the words.
