I don’t typically do book series! I mean at all, although there have been a few exceptions to that rule such as Duffy Brown’s Consignment Shop Mysteries and the Outlander series. The reason that I don’t is because I get so wound up wanting to know what happens and I tend to become overly invested. Like I cry every time I finish a book in the series and am on pins and needles waiting to find out what happens.
I recently bought a book not realizing it part of a series, luckily it was the first book in the series. I will admit that the hot guy on the front cover made me stop and look at the book. After reading the back cover I thought it sounded great and I made the purchase. Once I got home and read through the whole book I could have shot myself!
It was like 2 am and I was scouring through Amazon and Barnes and Noble hunting down the next book. The first ended so well that I had to know what happened. I am convinced that authors do this just to torture me! It’s a conspiracy!!
While I was able to find all of the books so far in the series and I have poured through them I really now need another one. I have questions!! Will they ever get married? Did they actually vanquish the evil? Will they ever have kids (her friend gets pregnant at the drop of toothbrush!) The list goes on and on. I would email the author but I might at this moment be the crazy fan that no one wants to hear from so I will try to be patient while I wait for the next book…….
NOT!!
Have you seen the countdown in my sidebar? All this waiting is stressing me out!
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

Man, I really could use a good series of books to read right now!
Rita says
Well stick around Dani because I will be sharing the series that trapped me and a couple of others in February!

What was the series?!?! I never used to read series either, but my husband got me started on so many great ones, and now I’ve found that the feeling you get when a books is so good, you don’t want the story to end? SOLVED! Pick a great series! lol
Rita says
I will sharing the series with you I promise! If I know there is going to be a next book in the series I something don’t read the last page of the latest until the new one comes out. That way the it hasn’t ended yet.
ginette4 says
Been there done that..not realizing it’s a series but happy at the same time that a very good book continues
Rita says
Yeah it does make me happy that the story continues.

I am an avid reader, and goodness when I get into a series of books stay out of the way 🙂 I will stay up way past my bedtime reading and pay for it the next day. I have to know the ending!
Rita says
Me too! I don’t sleep for days and turn into a crazy person.

Lol!!! This is too funny! I know your pain! I have done the same thing. I also try to avoid books that are in a series. It seems like it takes so long for the next book to come out! It is a curse and a blessing at the same time.
Rita says
They are a curse and a blessing! Sometimes I swear authors do that just to torture me!

I got suckered into a series recently also. I have a Kindle and get emails with free books. I read the brief description and it sounded good so I downloaded it. It was a wonderful story but it ended before you knew if they would be together. I was so mad! But like you went to Amazon and downloaded the rest of the series. I have to say it was well worth it though!
Rita says
It is always worth it but boy the trip through the books can be hard on the emotions 😉

I get that way too about series. I read all of the Hunger Games in a day. That was overwhelming.

I started on the Nancy Drew books as a kid. When I ran out of those, I read my brother’s Hardy Boys books. I was thrilled when my daughter got caught up in the Harry Potter series.
