How many passwords do you have stored in your computer? If you are like me you have tons. I spend most of the day on my computer working and every site I use has a different password. Have you ever had one of your passwords stolen? I have, in fact I had my computer hacked last year. Let me tell you that it is as frightening as having your home broken into. My entire life,so to speak,is store on my computer. What I learned is that I needed more protection. I have gotten a new computer and recently was offered the chance to review Chica Password Manager from ChicaLogic.
If yesterday’s woman mastered the art of juggling family, friends, and career, then today’s woman has mastered the art of synergistic integration of all that and more. Multitasking is no longer a trendy buzzword; it’s a way of life. And women are the vanguards of the movement thanks to their computers, the Internet, and all manner of digital media.
But a woman’s computer is more than a digitized day planner from which she runs her life, organizes her business, and manages her home. A woman’s computer is her beacon in a global economy. It’s where she negotiates multimillion-dollar deals over morning espresso while she’s still in her PJs; it’s how she stays connected to friends and family, whether they are down the street or Down Under; and it’s what she relies on every day to keep her grounded and inspired, informed and educated, engaged and entertained. So the last thing any woman wants or needs is to spend valuable time deciphering which computer hardware and/or software programs are best suited to her lifestyle.
And that’s where ChicaLogic™ comes in.
I honestly wasn’t even sure what a password manager did. I mean I was certain it did what it sounds like but didn’t my computer already have one of those built in? Why did I need a new one? What would this would do that my computer one didn’t do? All these questions and more flew through my head so I set out to find the answers to them and here is what I discovered:
Many people use easy to remember, and thus easy to guess, passwords. Others use one password for everything, or just two or three to separate their social networking from their banking. If you DO use a separate strong password for every single site, then where on earth are you going to keep them?Word documents and excel sheets aren’t enough, even if you password protect those a ten dollar tool can crack it open. Keeping passwords stored in your email is also dangerous: it may be easier to find that way, but it’s entirely unencrypted and an easy grab for scammers, viruses and trojans. An encrypted, dedicated program is the only safe solution.
So I got started with my free trail of the Chica Password Manager. The first thing I noticed is that it very simply to download and install. You simply follow the onscreen instructions which include selecting a master password. Secondly, since I use Firefox I had to have an add-on and the software updated it for me, which is great! I was able to import all of my saved passwords from various places and now they are all in one place. Everything is organized nicely into groups. For example, all of your social media accounts will be saved underneath the group titled Social Networking. Your favorite shopping sites can be save in their own group as well. Is it secure? YES!! When I turn on my computer and it boots up to Windows it asks for my master password. I was even able to use the computer without putting the password in. All I couldn’t do was automatically access sites/files where I needed a password. This way my kids can use the computer without having access to my accounts such as my blog, Facebook, etc.

I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.
