ChicoBag and Green Halloween have reteamed for the third year in a row to promote
safe, healthy and eco-friendly Halloween festivities with their national Trick-or-Treat bag design contest
for children. The contest brings together the country’s leading reusable bag company with a Seattlebased
nonprofit and grassroots community initiative developed to inspire healthier and more planetfriendly holidays.
Kids can enter the contest by submitting an original drawing or design that best captures the spirit of a
“Green Halloween” using the ChicoBag design template and their medium of choice. The contest is open to children ages 1-13 and the templates will be available at Chico Bag beginning September 1, 2010 through October 31, 2010.
“This is a contest that we look forward to every year,” said ChicoBag President Andy Keller. “We get
really inspired by the designs these talented kids submit. It’s a wonderful glimpse into the future of
sustainability when we see how much these children already understand about reusing what we have and their awareness of our finite natural resources.”
Each ChicoBag Trick-or-Treat bag is made from lightweight, machine washable material and holds up to
25 pounds of goodies. The bags can be used year after year, eliminating environmentally-t`hreatening
single use bag options. Once the goodies have been gobbled up, the bags can be stuffed back into their
self-contained pouch for storage, where they’ll take up the same amount of space as the average cell phone.
“Our hope is that participating children will be inspired to make greener choices for Halloween and other celebrations throughout the year,” said President of ChicoBag, Andy Keller.
Entries can be sent via email (jpeg or pdf format) to halloween@chicobag.com or mailed (print format)
to: ChicoBag Company, c/o Halloween Contest,
349 Huss Drive,
Chico, CA 95928.
Entrants must submit a signed agreement form which includes the artist and the parents name, age and contact information.
Top designs will be posted to a photo album on the ChicoBag facebook page, and all voting will be done
through the ChicoBag facebook fan page, www.facebook.com/chicobag. Voting will be open to everyone, and votes must be left as comments under the design of choice. The designs with the most votes by November 17, 2010 at 11:59 PM PST will be declared winners.
Ten percent of the proceeds from each bag sold will be donated directly to Green Halloween.
In addition to the opportunity to see the winning designs on reusable bags throughout the nation, the top three winning designs will also receive other prizes, including $250 for the first place winner and $100 for the second place artist.
