I had the pleasure of going to see Cirque du Soleil-Quidam on Wednesday November 23,2011. It was the first time I had ever seen any of the Cirque du Soleil shows and I must say I was very impressed. I had heard about the awesomeness of these shows but had not realized just how beautifully artistic they were.

Quidam was one of the most unique shows I had been to in my entire life. The characters are everything from the sweet little girl to the odd, almost angered Boum Boum. He is the character that is by far one of the most memorable. He is aggressive and strange. He walked around punching his hands together and I swear there were times I thought he was going to come sneaking up behind me. He was frightening and fun at the same time.
The Story behind Quidam:
Young Zoé is bored; her parents, distant and apathetic, ignore her. Her life has lost all meaning. Seeking to fill the void of her existence, she slides into an imaginary world – the world of Quidam – where she meets characters who encourage her to free her soul.
Quidam: a nameless passer-by, a solitary figure lingering on a street corner, a person rushing past and swallowed by the crowd. It could be anyone, anybody. Someone coming or going at the heart of our anonymous society. A member of the crowd, one of the silent majority. The one who cries out, sings and dreams within us all. This is the “quidam” whom this show allows to speak. This is the place that beckons – a place for dreaming and genuine relations where all quidams, by proclaiming their individuality, can finally emerge from anonymity.
Zoe meets an assortment of characters that are at best odd butsomehow enchanting at the same time. The areobatics of Quidam is by far the best in the world (in my opinion.) My favorite was hte Spanish Webs where a group of artists(make not mistake these are artists) fly over the stage and are attached to special conveyer. They either in turn or as a group drop into the void and the only thing that is holidung them up are the ropes that are looped around their legs or ankles. It is heart-stopping and beautiful!
There were so many characters and acts that just telling you about them all does not do justice to them. Quidam is a masterpiece of color, characters, and entertainment at it’s best! If you have not yet seen Quidam or any Cirque du Soliel show go out now and get tickets. I promise you will not be disappointed.
Karen Water has been working with Rita both behind the scenes and occassionally writing for almost two years. She is a mother, friend, and more
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.
