I am not the big coffee drinker in our home, I am the big hot chocolate drinker. For some reason I just love hot chocolate but finding the more adult version can be difficult. I usually end u buying the large can at the grocery store. I was very intrigued with Cocoa Joe when I came across them and thrilled they agreed to work with me. Cocoa Joe is Premium Drinking Chocolate which is very different for me.
The first thing I realized was that Cocoa Joe Chocolate is brewed and I don’t mean the add hot water way. You can brew this stuff like you do coffee, in a French Press, and a variety of other ways. I was sent three different flavors (Venezuelan Cumboto, Patanemo, and Guatemala) to try out and I tried all of the brewing methods. Out of all of the methods I must admit that the Mayan method is the only one that really brought out the flavor.
With the other methods I was left with a watery drink similar to what I am already used to except with the coffee pot. I think my coffee pot actually burnt the chocolate. It was bad! With the Mayan method which is boiling water, adding the cocoa, simmer, strain, and then enjoy the flavors were very vibrant. I really liked all of the flavors but I must say that the Venezuelan Cumboto was my favorite. There was just something so rich about it. I can truly say that I have found my adult hot cocoa.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

Wonderful. I like to add cocoa TO my coffee–I guess that makes it a “mocha???” I’ll look for these.

I love hot chocolate. I drink it almost everyday. I sometimes add it to my coffee to make a mocha. I think this sounds wonderful. I would even try to add it to my coffee to give me that little bit of chocolate I crave. Thanks for sharing. I will have to check my stores and see if one of them carry it,

I have never had it in my coffee before. I will have to give that a try.

That’s cool that you can brew hot chocolate like you can coffee. I came up with a recipe that my wife and I have used, making our hot chocolate from scratch w/ cocoa, sugar, almond milk, coconut milk, and vanilla extract. It really works well for our taste!
