I have another giveaway hop for y’all today. This one doesn’t really have a theme which can be a good thing. Without a theme I admit I wasn’t sure what I would be writing about or giving away. However, after having been gone unexpectedly for most of September I find that I really don’t need a theme.

I spent the time away helping my brother lay new floor among other things. That is something I will be sharing with all of you at a later date. I’m still going through the pictures and honestly just trying to recover. I never knew it was so much work to put in a new floor.
I went originally to help with a little work and help get my nephew on schedule for online school this year. the struggled a bit and the end of the last school year and wanted to get started off well this year. I have a whole other post for the mess that online school was. In their defense, there were simply plenty of kinks that needed to be worked out but it was still frustrating. Again it is something that I will share with y’all later once I can put my thoughts together on it and not come off as angry or bitter.

I remember being so nervous waiting in the long line for my turn!
I remember being really nervous to have my picture TAKEN one year, so I couldn’t smile properly and my picture looked like I was grimacing.
I always had giant glasses as a kid so school picture day was a no thanks for me as I looked like a cartoon character
I have had some dorky school pictures when i was young but my kids have taken the best pictures. You can choose cool backgrounds and my daughter loves to choose her own outfit
I loved picture day because i always had the same photographer who used to be my elementary principal. those were sweet days.
i like that the schools take pictures to commemorate the students. i personally didn’t like picture day exxcept that we got out f class
I really loved getting my hair done, my mom would take extra care and use hairspray – i thought i was so cool lol
I really don’t have any good memories of school pictures
I remember picking out my clothes for picture day,my mom doing my hair and being nervous all day until I got my picture taken and wondering if it turned out well.
I hate school picture day. The photographer had one shot to get the picture and I was out of there. Only did it because my Mom wanted them.
I remember I always had to do picture retakes because they always used to brush my hair right before the picture & totally mess it up!
I can’t think of anything good.. they always turned out horrible.
I remember being very excited to see the neon light features added to my pictures (I was a kid in the 90s, in case you couldn’t tell) 🙂
I never liked school picture day.
I remember always being the first in line because they had us line up shortest to tallest.
I always looked forward to school picture day and tried to look my best.
I remember dreading picture day and was so nervous.
I always wanted to find the cutest pictures but I normally always ended up looking bad lol. When I was younger my mom would do my hair and I loved it
One time I wore a pom-pom in my hair! fourth grade, I think.
I really hated school picture day. I just remember that my big teeth were coming in and they made me smile and I didn’t want to smile.
I remember that my grade was always the last to have pictures taken so it was super hard to stay clean all day! my mom always curled my hair and by picture time the curls had disappeared.
i hated school picture day, in my teens my hair was horrible and always has hand me down clothes
I am OLD now, and I only remember the class photos in grade school. People were MUCH poorer back then. We did not even have a car, dad took a bus to work! Only in High school did we get solo pics. I hated it, never like the way I looked.. well, WHO did?? Ha.
My memory is of a photo in high school where my hair looked orange in the photo when it is in fact blonde. Of course these were the days of film needing to be developed, etc. no chance of retaking it.
As an elementary school kid, I wore nice clothes. When I was older, it was more of an ordeal. I had to do my hair just right and be wearing the perfect clothes. My favorite picture day was senior photos. I still have my favorite photo out of all of them taken.
High school tried to be different each year!😹
I was never anxious about actual picture day, but was pretty nervous when we’d get the pictures back.
I always like school picture day, but I would always manage did my outfit dirty during the school day.
I looked forward to school picture day. I liked planning the outfit I would wear and my hairstyle.
I remember my Mom brushing my hair so hard that my head hurt for days.
The only memories i have is that i never liked the outfits i used to wear for my elementary school pictures
Don’t really have any memories of school picture day.
I was never a fan of school picture day. That meant I had to dress up and have my hair done nicely. I lived in rural indiana and was more interested in fishing a nd catching turtles. having to go through the process of preparing for school picture day was almost as bad as getting ready for church on sunday mornings.
IM SO NERVOUS AND I BITE MY LIPS!! PICTURE TAKEN..!!
I was never a fan of picture day. I always parted my hair up through the middle and wore one of my favorite outfits.
I have always hated getting my picture taken and got butterflies the day of.
one year in middle school they put my picture and young boys name. I thought was the end of the world. lol
Either got my name spelled right or just a messy hair day
I had outfits chosen for me to wear on that day, my parents were very serious about me getting photos.. and then one time I had bad hair, and they made a request for them to photoshop it, ahah!!
I was very shy so my school pictures always looked uncomfortable. Several years i would have a mustard stain on my shirt, i always ended up eating mustard lol
I seem to recall I had a funny haircut one year.
I remember my picture day with my mom doing my hair
I remember we had to wear our best outfit and make sure our hair was neat.
I remember hating picture day as a child.
I was not a fan of picture day.My mother would pick out outfits i did not like and i would be stuck that way all day.
I was a shy kid so picture day was not my favorite
For sure the year i decided to cut my own bangs right before pictures🤣
I was homeschooled but I loved getting my pic taken, haha!
I remember wearing my favourite Garfield sweater for pic day
School picture day always gave me such anxiety! I was so awkward looking as a kid. And never knew what color to choose as my baxkground.
School picture days were a nightmare. I was so shy and didn’t want to smile in front of the photographer and other kids in my class and My naturally curly/wavy hair was always a mess that day. Needless to say, my school pictures are all hidden from sight.
I never liked picture day haha.
I hated school picture day. I was a tomboy and hated getting dressed fancy and not being able to play outside cause I’d get dirty. now i look at old pictures and see wonderful memories.
I remember my mother always dressing me in the worst clothing!
I remember waiting on line with my classmates and combing my hair and deciding how I wanted to smile.
I liked the psychadellic backgrounds for school pictures. lolMy hair on the other hand, uh no. 🙂
I’d ALways over-practice smiling and because of that I always looked pretty ridiculous in those pictures!
I remember combing my hair obsessively before the picture. Also wanting to wear the perfect blouse that day.
it was always fun,had to plan my oufit ,but always seemed like the pictures never turned out very well!
I always hated picture day in school and my picture always turned out (hilariously) bad.
I HATEd picture taking day, and I am not the most photogetic person, so I only like my pictures when I’ve taken selfies. I was stressed and worried I recall before taking my grade 12 graduation picture, praying to God at the time that my picture would turn out nice, because naturally that’s an important picture when your parents, etc want a nice one of you. It thankfully did.
School photos were not my friend. I had gym class before most of them and all the hard work my mom spent on mt perfect hairdoo was wasted. And she got so mad when those photos came in.
I mostly remember elementary school picture days – my stepmom set out dresses for me (and my sisters) to wear – they were her style completely, not any of ours – and it really made us hate getting our pictures taken. i wish we could’ve chosen our own outfits – show our individual style at the time!
my father put baby oil in my hair and my school photo was a picture of me with my hair plastered to my head!
Always a nervous event for me, big glasses and hairsprayed filled hair lol
I remember trying not to move my hair until the time we took our pictures. Even as a little girl, I wanted to look as pretty as possible.
ha well as someone’s who has never known what face to pull when taking pictures (which is still true today), i’ve always dreaded those days. I took separate pictures with my friends from my class only very reluctantly when they suggested it but now i’m really grateful i did. x)
I remember always liking how my cousins hair looked and her mom did mine like hers for picture day. When I look backa t the picture now I thin what was I thinking. LOL
Dressing up
My fave memory of school picture day is my sister’s kindergarten pictures. I’m a few years younger and “helped” her cut her hair the day before. Good thing side ponies were all the rage in the Late 80’s because she had to rock one for months.
Picking out the perfect outfit and trying to get my hair to look good. It was fun.
I remember dressing up and always beings so nervous on picture day.
I always hated school pictures because when they would tell me to smile I would freeze up.
There was always someone there with a comb to make sure the hair was just right!
4th grade was the first time i was allowed to grow my hair out and pick my own outfit!
All those students lining up….oh, how I remember that. Didn’t want to stay in that line….but i did.
The photographer gave us a comb every year but our teachers would never let us use them. Didn’t want our parents to get mad if our hair didn’t look the same as they way it did when they sent us to school that morning!
There were so many bad memories. Looking back at the pictures they were bad.
Seems like I always had a bad hair day on picture taking day!
My Mom used to always forget about school pictures, so i was always dressed for playing not pictures – lol.
I didn’t like school picture day. I never thought that my photos looked very good.
My mom always made me wear dresses, which I did not enjoy. It took me couple of school years to finally remember to bring a change of clothes with me on picture day.
I remember the teacher encouraging me to smile by making jokes.
None of my school pictures turned out very well as I was always pulling faces .lol
For some reason my hair was always not right on that day. of all days. i would mess it up or something. but it’s fun looking back on the photos.
I went to a private catholic school many, many years ago and there was no picture day for me. The only school picture I have is my graduation picture and its the entire class.
We did group pictures and since I was short I always ended up in the front row.
I remember always having the same hairstyle from 4th grade up to 9th
The only one I remember prior to our senior photos was when I wore my van halen necklace for picture day and my father was furious. mom thought it was funny. i loved van halen so much back then
It was all about having a good hairday!
I hated picture days usually we forgot it was happening or that would be the day my hair would not cooperate.
Ugh, picture day was always rough. i’ve got a few ones that were some real bad hair days.
I remember always hating my photos but as i look back now, they weren’t that bad
I remember that they always gave us a black plastic comb.
School picture day was a horror! My hair always did what it wanted to do (still does), my smile looked fake, and all you could see on the picture was this huge nose with a face around it!
I was a very shy little girl, so I was always afraid of everything! I remember one of my pictures (I’m sure we all have them) where I didn’t brush my hair at all. It’s hilarious!
I remember being so stressed about my outfit and hair. I even practiced my smile in the mirror a couple of times
I just pay for the pictures knowing that my kid will have messed up hair, a whacky smile or something else that make for bad pics. It is just funny that it never fails, he is very photogenic but not in school pictures, lol.
I remember trying sun-in before a picture day in junior high and my hands turning orange.
I was pretty nervous on picture day.
my mom put curlers in my hair all night so that most of my grade school photos show me with curly hair.
One of my favorite memories is always wearing a new outfit for picture day. I looked forward to it each year.
I like school picture day when I was young. My hair always got messy before the picture could be taken.
I always hated picture day as a kid. Not fun for an over weight little girl who’s mother made her have super super short hair.
a WEEK BEFORE SCHOOL PICTURE DAY FOR KINDERGARTEN MY DAUGHTER DECIDED TO USE HER SCHOOL SCISSORS AND CUT HER HAIR. good thing they have make up day
I remember dressing up in my Sunday best clothes and taking extra care with my hair for picture day.
My school picture day was full of dread and nervousness. It wasn’t fun and very much disliked it!
I was not a fan of school pics! I had an awful haircut starting in 6th grade & it didn’t get better until after high school because my hair is thick, I should have never tried to have short hair.
I was shy and hated picture day. plus my hair was always a frizzy mess as a kid.
I would always be nervous, and all the pictures turned out awful…
I hated picture day, I could never smile right.
I remember worrying about my hair on picture day!
school picture day was always a happy day for me because i always looked forward to it and i loved going to school!
I always hated picture day.
I remember school picture days as a teacher! It was always crazy and I hated when we didn’t get a morning slot for the photos. Recess always made the kids sweaty and their hair crazy, so I would keep them inside those days. haha!
I was an introvert in school, still am. I did not take good pictures. I never learned how to smile. It always looks forced.
Before I started school, my grandmother gave me a necklace with a teddy bear. It looked like the teddy bear was swinging from the necklace. I wore it for my first picture day and every picture day for the rest of my school and university years. It quickly turned into a tradition and I would think of my grammie every time I put it on. Thanks for the awesome giveaway opportunity.
I hated school photos. As a kid I was bullied all the time and it was not any better when school photos came around either.
Not being able to play!
I remember always being stressed the night before about my outfit, hair and if I would get a zit on my face.
That was a very long time ago but I always wanted my hair done perfectly . I always had a new outfit to wear too.
For some reason, I remember my pictures always being after gym class— never the best hair, but a nice glow on my face 🙂
My mom had cut my bangs way to short and I was just horrified to have my picture taken!
I hate school pictures. My mother always made me wear the absolute worst outfits for pictures, and I had to go around school all day feeling like the biggest dork. Looking back at the pictures as an adult, I’m still like, “mother, what were you thinking?”
I hated picture day! I was always nervous and uncomfortable. :p Trying to look like a human is hard for some of us!
I liked to avoid our school picture day.
I remember getting to wear my favourite clothes for school picture day.
I remember always having to line up in alphabetical order to get our pictures taken. My name begins with W so I was always one of the last kids photographed.
I remeber when I was about 7 or 8 I wanted to wear my favorite dress for picture day and my MOm had taken it to the cleaners. She went to pick it up and the cleaners had lost it. I was heartbroken and refused to go to school that day. Eventually my mom found another dress and I went but I was not happy and the picture reflected that.
For the class picture I was one of the tall kids, so I always stood in the back.
I prepare my look for each school picture day, since way back then photography was not yet digital, and there is no photo retouch and editing
I mostly dreaded school picture day. They NEVER turned out the way I would have liked. The photographer always managed to snap the pic when I wasn’t even ready, kind of like it was done on purpose. I think the photographers were unhappy with the direction of their careers and got a kick out of doing this. I knew that the horrible (ugly af) pictures would be going into the yearbook for everyone to see (and probably make fun of). So, yeah, I really disliked (hated) picture day.
I remember getting a really awful perm one year before picture day. I still laugh when I see that picture.
My memories are some years I decided to try a new hairstyle.. lol it wasn’t a success and it’;s immortilized
I would always practice my smile in the mirror! In most pics I have big ugly glasses but thought I looked so cool lol
One embarrassing moment was when I forgot it was picture day and I didn’t dress nicely. About an hour after I got to school I was called to come to the office where my Mom was holding some nice clothes that she wanted me to change into.
I always remember my mom having to do my hair, usually in a weird way! Then having to wait for them.
It’s been 60 years and I really don’t remember.
Thanks for the contest.
Omg, I was so nervous waiting for my turn. I really hated it but now I treasure that picture.
I would have to say just waiting in line to take the picture. Thank for giveaway need to win some paypal to give with my Kiva.org account want to help other women around the world.
I remember having to wait in a long line of kids. I remember having to wear a nicer shirt on that day.
I always tried to put some extra effort in on picture day like a hair bow or matching jewelry. It was an excuse to dress up.
One of the funniest memories is when it rained on Picture Day. My class had to go from one building to the next, so all of our photos have us with wet hair and looking a bit confused. LOL
-Lauren
I was never a fan of picture day. I remember waiting in line in high school, and when it was finally my turn, my classmates called my name. Needlessly to say I looked sideways as the camera clicked. It’s funny now, but it wasn’t then. The picture was horrible.
Mom did my hair & picked the perfect outfit always. I dont like to have my picture taken, though!
never liked picture day, always a bad day
I remember having bad hair on picture day!
I remember my mom plaiting my hair for picture day.
That i was nervous and hyper as well when i was 6 and my lips were dirty after eating and nobody told me.
I often always had my eyes closed because I anticipated the flash! It took me years to get over my fear of the flash so it made for very awkward school photos. :S
My mom would cut my hair a cut of days before and it looked so awful the day of pictures.
My Mom used to put me in these ridiculous dresses and do my hair all fancy! I was a tomboy so to me it was a horrible day, haha. But I always smiled!
I was a tomboy growing up so I never cared much about it, but my mom did. She would even pick out my outfits a few days prior! I always looked forward to it being over so I could take off my hair accessories!
I remember how excited I was because I could choose my own background for my 4th grade photo. I chose… lasers. Because it was 1990, ha ha. 😉
I can’t remember anything special, just a normal day.
In sixth grade I just was given a terrible perm. Will never forget it!
My mother wanted me to stay clean until the pic was taken. It was always a stressful day.
I remember school day pictures being a mess they never tried to fix you before they took the picture, they just snap it and how every it looked that’s how it was.
I always hated school picture day when I was young. My pics always came out so goofy..lol
I didn’t like picture day. I believe my terrible photos were because I hated the other kids staring.
I hated picture day, I would get all dressed up and get so excited and then when the picture came I was never satisfied with it.
I just remember how much I didn’t like doing them.
I always dreaded school picture day. It was awkward and horrible for me.
Oh my goodness! School Picture Day was always such a big deal and our Moms always were unhappy with the way they turned out (why don’t the photographers or teachers at least smooth out hair or make an effort to make sure everything’s on straight and no dirt is showing?). I think my favorite memories were of high school photo days, though. We had a dressing room and all changed into the same blouses or tops and wore pearls. At least then we were a bit more responsible for making sure we looked OK in the photos 😛
I always hated how my mom would dress me for pictures so I’d be uncomfortable and nervous but also happy we didn’t have to sit in class haha!
Worst day ever I would make up stuff to stay home that day.
I’ve never had a school picture day, but my kids have and my son is right now in his pic looking very angry 🙂 In a good way really.
I always dressed up for school pictures, and my mom put my hair in pig tails.
I remember getting a free pocket size black comb to fix my hair while standing in line to get my picture taken in elementary school.
I remember my dad doing my hair for my kindergarten picture and it still haunts me to this day lol! My hair was a hot mess, but hey he tried!
I remember my two front teeth were missing, and my pig tails were uneven…I’m thinking that was intentional on my sister’s part…lol Yes….sisterly love.
I just remember I never looked good on picture day.
Stroke. No memories.
In high school one year I wore a tank top and a men’s tie, as kind of a statement on typical standards of and obsession with appearance and beauty. Also just to be funny!
I have no good memories of school picture day, I had low self esteem as a kid and always felt that I looked awful.
All along the walls of our family room I have the school photos of each of my girls, from kindergarten through 8th grade. I’m so very glad that I did that because they arre now 39 (mother of my granddaughter) and 36.
I went to a Dodds school since my dad was in the army, they were nice. They made sure we looked nice and took a picture.
I usually didn’t like picture day.
Picture for school day someone in class made me laugh and I was stuck with a certain expression on my picture along with my hair going up.
I just remember that I always hated and dreaded it lol, just super awkward and uncomfortable
I did not like school picture day at all, just didnt want to take my picture
I dreaded school picture day. Even now, looking back on the photographs, I remember how I felt.
I hated it.
