Connecting During Bath Time with JOHNSON’S®

Feb 09, 2015 | Rita

Connecting During Bath Time with JOHNSON’S®
Disclosure:  This is a sponsored post written on behalf of JOHNSON’S® and The Motherhood.  All thoughts and opinions are my own. Each night after dinner I give the twins their baths. In fact I do it separately so I can take a little time to spend with each of them rather than rushing through something that has to be done. I am going to be honest and say that bath-time was never something I was good at. In fact my mother or ex use to do bath time. Then I found that it was a way to let me bond with each of them and just let them see that I wasn’t always so strict about things. There is nothing better than hearing them giggle or the mountain of water that I seem to have to clean afterwards.

You know I never thought a thing in this world about the ex giving the kids a bath. In fact I recently learned that 54% of dads are the primary parent to bathe their children in their households.  Honestly I think it has to do with the fact that men like to play with all those bath toys. I swear they do! Us women are too concentrated on getting the kids calmed down and clean for the night. I actually noticed this difference once at my brother’s house. He would put every truck in the house in the tub with his son and play til the water was ice-cold. Yet my sister in-law had him in and out in record time.

Of course it is important to make sure that dad is using the right stuff too. I once found the ex bathing the kids with adult shampoo cause he couldn’t find their stuff. They were like three weeks old at the time. JOHNSON’S® has been around for over 120 years and the #1 baby skin care brand (which we always have a supply of in the house I might add!) They not only know skin well but they also know the needs of babies.

With all of that knowledge  JOHNSON’S®  is launching their JOHNSON’S® SO MUCH MORE™ campaign where they are focusing on using bath time to stimulate the senses of babies.  Their goal is to give parents the opportunity to nurture their child’s ability to learn, think, love, and grow.  Since bath time is a multi-sensorial playground it gives parents the perfect opportunity to evoke different senses in a variety of ways such as using scents. I love using scents when the twins have had a stressful day or even when they have a stuffy nose. I use lavender to calm and soothe them but I use a menthol wash for when their noses are stuffy. Both are comforting and studies show that babies who use a scented product actually display 30% more engagement cues with their parents in the bath. Not to mention they spent 25% less time crying!

After reading the information from JOHNSON’S®, I am so glad that my crazy use of scented bath products for the twins has actually been good for them. Not to mention that the scents actually make me feel better as well. I know that is scientific but it does!

I love that they are doing this campaign to focus on using bath time to stimulate the senses of babies to help promote learning and growth. We love bath time with our kids, they love bringing there toys in the tub, and discovering the fun of bubbles.

Bath time seems to be a time that not only the kids love but parents as well. I’m thrilled about this campaign as well.
