My Thoughts:
I was really excited when I learned that I could master the use of Mexican and Latin American Spice Blends because as you all know I am always trying to learn new dishes for the hubby. Spices are really something that I am still learning to use. I never really know what all to do with them beyond the basic salt and pepper. This book however has more than just Mexican flavors there are also French, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Indian and, Sweet flavors among many others. The recipes are a bit surprising such as a Rice Pudding made from cauliflower which I did not try, and am not sure that I will. All in all this is a great cookbook for anyone wanting to learn more about spices and how to use them.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

eeewww…rice pudding from cauiflower? Not me either. But I would also be interested in learning more abot spices. I have been cooking for over 30 years for family and have a cupboard full and still don’t know much. I use so little they go bad before I can use them up. thanks for sharing!

My household try to not use salt so much as we have a history of high blood pressure so I try to look at herbs and spices to make the food come alive. It’s also very nice to try something new.

Besides the basics I am lost- Indianfood is beyond me and I have yet to try and cook it. Looks like an interesting book. How could it be ‘rice’ with cauliflower? 🙂

I love that it shows you ways to cut salt, fat and calories without giving up flavor. The spices I typically use are minimal so I’d love to learn new ways to use spices and make healthy dishes. Probably won’t be trying the rice pudding with cauliflower though lol

This book sounds awesome! Buying the ready made seasoning mixes usually means a lot of salt, more than what you might use for yourself. I *would* try cauliflower rice pudding! Cauliflower has a mild taste by itself. Thin of eating rice plain is awful, too.

I would probably try the pudding if I didn’t know what was in it. But the thought of making Cauliflower Rice Pudding turns me off.
The spice recipes are a great idea. It’s much cheaper to make your own blends than to buy premade ones. Plus you can control exactly what goes in it.

I don’t think I would try the cauliflower rice pudding, but I would try dome of the spicy dishes.

This sounds like a great cookbook. I’ve always wanted to find unique spice variants. You can find them all put together, but you rarely find resources that tell you how to put them together. I would be interested in some of the Middle Eastern spices. A friend gave us a spice mix from Morocco that was incredible and we ate it on our rice nearly every day until it was gone!
